What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

Now, merc, if you want to cut down on the number of filibusters, then make them go back to actually talking each other to death...

:)

Whatever.

Not too many Presidents have been this low looking to be reelected.

That's not the stuff of fantasy.

That's not what they are saying; they're blaming the hostility of their party and their inability to raise funds.

I still have to think that We, The People, are more concerned with what Obama is doing than what the Republicans are doing. I mean, he got elected on the back of Bush, the big debt guy and then he tripled the debt on his watch. Now you're bitching because those big-spending Republicans won't let him continue to run up the credit cards...

Do you have ANY solid principles? I know you hate mine, but I'm hard-pressed to find any principle other than I'm against whatever the Republicans are for.

Inability to raise funds? You're aware that the President and the DNC have more than met every single fund raising goal they've set while GOP candidates are foundering one after another right? The only GOP candidate that isn't in debt is Ron Paul, and he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of making it through the primaries, let alone the general election.

You may think that "We the People" includes you.. But the results of poll after poll speaks differently about what the people are concerned about.

*laugh* Oh my, a personal jab there.. I must have hit a nerve somewhere in there.. or maybe the other thread. But you never engage in that sort of thing right Cap'n Disingenuous? A favorite attack from the "right".. The left has no principles.. no morals.. Especially funny coming from a professed atheist.. Yet it's the "right" who seem to want to trample on the poor, the infirm, and the old. If those are solid principles in your eyes then I'm happy to say that I have none of them.

As Uncle Herman would say, apples to oranges...

The DNC is not controlled by the Blue Dogs and is not raising locally for them.

What concerns the American people is usually time sensitive.

What nerve do you possibly think you have hit?

What does Atheism have to do with my moral underpinning? It is based on the classic Liberal enlightenment, Life, Liberty and Property.

You have professed not to believe in property rights. You believe some people deserve to have their property taken from them and given to others based on the "to each according to his needs and from each according to his ability." You believe in legalized theft and you consider it moral and it causes you to say some crazy things as we have witnessed this morning.

Instead, the GOP has engaged in more of the same old Party of No.

And I'm damn proud of that. If the question is "Should we raise taxes by 20% to pay for the profligate spending of Obama and the democrats in shifting public money to their campaign supporters (like Solyndra) and keep it at that elevated new "normal" level forever?.......

Then my answer is "NO!" I support the party of NO to new taxes to pay for democrat cronyism which will result in more unemployment and further decline of our economy.

"NO" is the correct answer to that question.

If you want Obama and the democrats to pay for big programs to help democrat constituants and help elect democrat politicians....make your donations today. If you want to make the argument that I should pay for it....well, I'm glad the Republicans are saying "NO" to it for me.

Yes, and Uncle Herman as you call him, had his ass handed to him on a silver platter when he tried to make that claim too.

I think this excerpt summed it up best when Cain tried to fend off criticism of his nein-nein-nein plan from the produce aisle..

Obviously, the Herminator has managed to avoid contact with the most basic facts about his own tax plan. He describes it in terms that even his own advisers reject. And he exhibits no curiosity about what it contains. Cain brings to mind basketball great Charles Barkley, who complained of being misquoted — in his autobiography.

I don't think U_D sees it that way.

I think he wants his boss to be soaked...

I think he should start a new political party. They can donate all their money to Obama so he can use it to give UAW members $100,000/yr retirement packages when they retire at what....45? 50?..

But somehow I believe he thinks that you and I ought to pay for his welfare..new TV...new car....comfortable and worry-free retirement....etc.

I think he was astounded by the audacity of the lies told, especially by "tax lawyer" Michelle Bachman.

Which lies would those be?

That Cain's 9% business tax would be a VAT? His own advisers say the same thing..

Analysis commissioned by his own campaign, which he urged everyone to read, takes a somewhat different view from Cain.

"Each business would pay tax on gross receipts less payments to other businesses," it explains. "Allowing the subtraction of payments for intermediate goods yields the value added by the company. Subtracting investment as well yields a subtraction method value-added tax (emphasis added)."

Still pushing that old lie Out2Lunch?
I suppose being completely misinformed is kind of your thing huh?

Yes. She purposely conflated retail and wholesale. Either that or she is actually stupid.

It's a weakness I have to pick on you because you're so quick to pick on others. What can I say, I'm not perfect. I should refrain, but it's like trying to break a cigarette habit, I can't help but to pick on bullies.

Oh no, U_D is more noble than that.

He doesn't "need" any of that stuff, but he knows probably 100 million people that do need our stuff and he robs us for them. That makes him close to Jesus.

:nods:

I suppose the analysis commissioned by Cain's own campaign was confused or stupid.. Or don't know what a subtraction method VAT is..

-OR-

Cain doesn't have a clue. Obviously, Cain has managed to avoid contact with the most basic facts about his own tax plan. He describes it in terms that even his own advisers reject.

Personally I'm beginning to to wonder if he knows the difference between a thin-crust pie and the box it came in.

god forbid we have someone like Cain in office, someone who knows how to create wealth, someone who has created a business. to have a president that is intelligent and has common sense

here is the key: Cain is successful. obama is a carpetbagger

I keep hearing thsi high pitched whine chanting "Jen'dumbasastump'inFlorida was here.."

But she was banned for spamming and created how many alts?

Meanwhile, back in the USSA...

...the country formerely known as the greatest nation the earth has ever known:

9. Belarus

Rampant corruption. 51% of population is employed by the government. State-controlled economy. Surviving off an IMF bailout.

8. Rwanda

War-torn, rampant corruption and no infrastructure. Tiny. Recent history of ethnic cleansing.

7. Georgia

Poverty, little infrastructure, rural.

6. Macedonia

Corrupt. Tiny (only 500k people!)

5. Hong Kong

Not a country.

4. Singapore

A city-state.

3. Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

Sure, but also Socialist by your very own definition

Should the US become more like this group?

can i just say, i love that after being away for months its amusing as hell to see this p.o.s. thread still going on, and obama's staunch defenders working so hard to be condescending and superior

the whole point of this thread is the economy, and it's *still* completely in the shitter. obama himself even said if things aren't better after he's been in office for 3 years he should be canned.

meh, what does it matter? nothing said in here will change anyone else's mind, nor will it create a single job or add a thin dime towards the economy

Things aren't any better than when Obama took office? Huh?? How quickly the chooses to forget how fucked up the economy was when Obama was sworn in. We were losing -600,000 jobs per month. So far this year we've added up to +225k jobs per month and have had no months in the red.

The stock market was 9,300 and falling when Obama took office. The market hit bottom six weeks later at 6,700, then skyrocketed up to 12,700. It sits at 11,808 today.

When Obama took office, our GDP was withering. It shrunk -5.5% during the quarter Obama was sworn in, it's second consecutive quarter shrinking -5% or more. After that quarter we've had quarters of

-.7%
2.2%
1.8%
2.7%
1.7%
2.6%
3.1%
1.9%
1.3%

Are you honestly trying to tell me that those numbers above are worse than two consecutive quarters of -5% or worse of shrinking? That + 100k jobs per month is worse than -600,000? And that the Dow being at 11,800 is worse than 9,300?

We're still not adding enough jobs to call ourselves out of the woods, but the plain fact is that some flat-out catastrophic shit got turned around on Obama's watch.

But, as we have been saying, we are not out of the woods.

Another downgrade is probably on the way and the EU looks more and more likely to crash us.

We are not going to recover because OWS has morphed into OWH...

Our community organizer sees a community to organize and will now put the screws to his own contributors even as they pay protection money in the fear that it will be even worse if they do not pay.

As for you previous question: I don't see the need to discuss projections when I know that the math used cannot be applicable because it attempts to use linear methods on a chaotic system and for the life of me, I cannot understand you inability to understand that concept after watching so many projections and analyses simply fail. Economics is not a math-based science, it is based on Human Action and as long as we continue to target groups then it will not behave in the rational, measured way that your beloved analyses say it will; they only times they can work are during stable times of prosperity which is obviously a time in which we have little, if any use for them other than to back the hunches of degenerate day traders.
