Good people of Lit...

Can't read it very well even with my mags on
Some things need to be taken personally so context and balance are wise.
The flowers are pretty.
:)

The company I used to work for gave that out to employees on occasion. It's very true.

Truths.

I was reading some teachings of Pema Chodoron today...and she mentioned that all anger, hurt, jealousy, etc, is the same...felt the same. Not always from the same path or the same degree, but we all share feelings.

I wish I could put it as well as she does.

The image needs to be larger, for one thing. You can barely read it.

Plus, the design is grade-school shoddy overall. My old design teachers would have a conniption over that. Background color should be recessive in a blue tint instead of pink. Totally unnecessary and mudding shadow effect on sans serif type, like somebody just discovered the shadow tool in InDesign. Dumb flower dingbats as interstitials, lines would be better. And the (over)use of Papyrus font for header, readout and agate-sized body copy...ugh! Might as well have used ComicSans! Oy!

Part 2 is bullshit.

And the font sucks.

and we can only do our best, at the end of the day, none of us are perfect with those ideals.

Part 2 is bullshit.

Huh. To me part 2 basically boils down to, "Grow a thick skin. You'll need it." I think it's the most applicable point of all of them in regards to places like the General Board.

Let the World Win
It is never necessary for you to win over anyone, anything, anyhow, anytime because there is no person and no personality who needs to win. Start disbelieving in yourself. You believe you can go out and do things for yourself. You believe in ambitions and if they seem to resist you, you call on your false power. Since it is false, counterfeit, it will destroy the individual who persists in it.
Experiment: This is salvation. You’re going to lose everything. Lose the argument. Let the whole world win over you. You are not going to lift a finger to stop it. The way to get your life is to lose it. The way to win is to be a loser. Use every single failure, disgrace, defeat, sorrow, to acquire heavenly riches. That man/woman can’t give it to you. He/she never did.
You are letting go of the imposter you thought was you. “I can just relax from giving my circumstances power over me by fighting, resisting them.”
When you are at the mercy of everyone and everything and you don’t fight back, you have won.

Nice.
It's letting go of Ego. Not that Ego is a bad thing, but we always want Our Way..just like little children. When we let go of Ego, we can open our minds and hearts to kindness and empathy.

I had this told to me recently by a couple of new-agie colleagues.

One of them ended up being a major bitch who screwed everybody over and shit on all four principles.

They sound pretty good, I'm not sure you can narrow things down to four things, but I can see the appeal.

Standard office memo/chain email bs. You damn well better take some things personally because they're meant to be. You start blowing everything off and you'll find yourself being stepped on on the way up the ladder or in life in general.
A persons word is overrated. It's good only as long as it is useful to the person who said it. Once something better comes along you better not count on their word meaning shit.
I agree about assumptions.
I think maybe half the people do their best. The other half just say they do. That won't change. It's human nature. Some are just flat out lazy.

Cynical maybe but it's the truth.

A bit platitudinous, especially for the jaded. But nothing in it is untrue, and if one could for a moment recapture the zen concept of beginner mind, it tells a brief path to a valuable experience.
Unfortunately, getting out from under the jadedness that many possess is at least as big a challenge as truly appreciating Sr. Ruiz' philosophy.

Sounds like the fruity hippie pledge they were reading at the occupy some street protest.

1. I think you'll do almost anything for cybersex.

2. I often wonder if your wife knows what you're up to online.

Lance, you're cute.

1. I hate cybersex. It bores the shit out of me.

2. Yes, she does. She doesn't give a shit.

Interesting...I wasn't expecting commentary on the design aspects. I agree. I thought, "Hallmark" when I first saw it.
