I've been denied health insurance from two major insurance companies because I had blood work done, and it was determined that I had high cholesterol. I used to be overweight (290lbs) and now I'm down to ~210 lbs.
Other than my cholesterol, I do not have ANY other health ailment whatsoever. In fact, the last time I was tested, my cholesterol was fine. I am in absolutely perfect health other than the fact that my cholesterol is high.
How can health insurance companies deny someone coverage for something as simple and trivial as high cholesterol? What if I really get sick and need a doctor? Do I have to sit in the corner of a dark room and just let myself die because greedy and evil corporations see me as a financial expense?
Health insurance companies will cancel and deny coverage to people for the simplest and most trivial reasons. The problem is so bad, some Americans are actually traveling to other countries to be medically treated for a terminal illness. It's been determined that the number one cause of death in the United States is actually the medical system itself!
Insurance companies are not interested in helping you, they just want your money. If you develop a terminal illness they will drop your coverage, and you'll end up having to pay hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars out of your own pocket to save your life.
The healthcare system in the United States is setup in a manner to benefit the financial interests of health insurance companies, pharmaceutical firms, and some elements of organized medicine. "Healthcare" in America has absolutely nothing to do healing people and treating patients, it has everything to do with placating wall-street financier special interests.
Millions of Americans are forced onto tax-funded state insurance because they were unjustly cancelled or denied coverage by the corrupt and unsavory business practices of the health insurance industry. No, these people aren't all lazy idiots who refuse to work and live off the government dime from cradle to grave.
Also, health insurance companies pay their CEO's and executives more money than any other industry. Most CEO's of "big insurance" make >$25,000,000 per year + giant bonuses. Some of these megalomaniacs/cold blooded killers get greedy and do things which negatively affect millions of people, but put large sums of money into their pockets.
For example, "The CEO and top executives refused to sacrifice their company-paid trip to Fiji, so they laid off thousands of employees."
