Signed up to be an editor some time ago and got enroled.
Sadly, the link in my profile is not working yet.
Enquired about it twice with sufficient time in between.
To date, no response.
Anyone reading this, that can help me out, please?

Can't help you with the profile, but I'd say if you'd like to edit, you're better to post an availability note in the monthly sticky at the top of the threads in this forum. The list of VEs is way too long and way too much trouble for people. Be sure to note any limitations, such as genres you'd prefer not to edit and things like that.

Suggestion

Don't sign up, I didn't. Just show up and offer your services. If you're good you'll establish a good rep and get more business.

Suggestions:

1. Clearly communicate the cats you are willing to edit for and the services you feel qualified to provide

2. Establish a rep as being a reliable editor, be hands-on. What I mean is to give updates to writers who are waiting. Confirm you received the story and give an approximate completion date

3. Provide updates every couple of days, a progress report where you're at and/or updated completion dates

4. Most writers are pretty patient, but they won't tolerate an editor who sits on their stories for weeks with no updates, and that's not fair to the writers. See #3

5. Don't guess, put pride aside and ask here by posting a thread if ypou have any questions, it's the best way for all involved to have a valuable learning experience

6. Don't bite off more than you can chew, only accept stories you are confident you can edit in a reasonable time (it's not a pay-one-price buffet, don't overload the plate)

I think that covers most of it. Good luck, it can be rewarding. But be kind, you're dealing with people, sometimes who are trying to write for the first time. But also don't feel bad if due to language differences you feel you cannot continue, either.

Thanks for your replies. Will take it into account.

Yep. the official editorial program is defunct here--like a lot of the other elements of the website (which is otherwise healthy). There's a new, informal, system of announcing availability monthly, as pennlady notes and has directed you to.

Did I miss anything?
