What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

You've been singing the same song for over two years now.

"Tomorrow, Tomorrow, there's always Tomorrow.."

And for two years, we have lingered in Depression.

Recovery is always just a day away...

Democrat success =

Intention...

If you ask me, I think what we're experiencing isn't in fact closer to a "growthless" recovery than to a jobless one. Because GDP started to grow more than a year and a half ago, but with the exception of just a couple of quarters, growth has not been noticeably above its trend rate of about 2-1/2 percent a year. I don't rejoice at the news that we added 216,000 jobs in March. About a hundred thousand of that 216,000 is needed every month just to keep up with the growth in the labor force. At this rate of job growth, it would take most of the decade to replace the eight 8-1/2 million jobs that were lost in the recession.

Chairwoman of Obama's White House Council of Economic Advisors

"We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place."

It’s hard to keep from laughing when President Barack Obama insists that Republicans put party and politics aside and pass his new “jobs” plan. The president’s own approach has been so nakedly political that it consigns his demand to absurdity . . .

The problem for the White House is that George W. Bush’s presidency has begun to recede too far into the mists of time for Obama to continue blaming his predecessor for the current economic mess. He needs a new culprit — and he wants voters to finger congressional Republicans.

The civility he pretends he wants is only for his critics:

Have you ever had a thought of your own?

Get ready for the next crash

European leaders may stave off a banking crisis for a few more weeks. Markets may even stage a relief rally as Greek debt worries abate. But make no mistake -- a deeper crisis in foreign banks is coming.

How realistic is that fear? Very, I'm afraid. European banks are facing a very real liquidity and capital crisis that could lead to the need for a government rescue of some globally significant banks.

Yes, to add to what you're saying...Obama says put politics aside and vote for the jobs bill because who in their right mind would argue against having a tax increase during a recession?

The jobs bill is pretty loaded with things Republicans said they wanted. But they'll vote against it anyway, then turn around and go back to saying they want the things in the jobs bill.

The DJI has gone from just under 7K in to over 11K..
Some "depression"..

Everybody now!

"Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya! Tomorrow! You're always a day away!"

Who talked it down in the first place with his message to Joe, the Plumber, class-envy warfare, talk of fairness and taxing those who make over $500K, $400K, $250K, do I hear $200K?

And how come you used to brag about it going from 7K to 12K?

Hmmm-K?

oh come on Merc, you and UD can't put reality on your ignore list

"You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality."

What did Einstein define stupidity as; repeating a failed action with the expectations of a differing result.

No wonder so many economic reports report "Unexpected" results...
