Writing Goal for the Day?

Thanks for the condolences, everyone. They are greatly appreciated.

sr and lc, you're both right (gasp) about the advance of dementia being a complete bitch. The last time I saw her, a year ago, she was still on top of things. It wasn't until the beginning of this summer that she really started to slip.

According to my mother, she very likely passed in her sleep, so that's... a good thing.

Sorry to hear the news anna, my thoughts are with you and yours.

Can I be completely honest here? I am more than excited for this weekend where everyone is going away, my phone will be quiet and I can lose myself with getting things done. I've pushed through a lot of notes and outlined scene sequences but haven't had a chance to really sit down and expand--which is what this weekend is for. And hopefully if all goes well, during a four hour flight on Tuesday! Thank god for flight times. :)

I'll have to take your word for it. I've never been hammered. ;)

Try it you'll like it! The hubby might like it even more.

Anyway finally got the damn sex scene! Figure after pushing this whole incest/bdsm thing this far why not go all the way?

Anyone up for some erotic knife play?

Yeah, my parents are proud.

I've been with the hub for about 13 years, and he's never been hammered either, at least not with me. So I guess we'll just keep going this way.

sans knife blade

I have a new goal in life - to slip PL a Mickey!

If my fucking computer crashes again today, I may slip myself one. Luckily, I haven't lost much either time, but it pretty damn annoying to have the thing just turn narcoleptic on me without any warning.

Good luck, Syd. ;) It's always good to have a goal.

Sorry about all the computer problems.

Humm. Turned out I wrote a new story tonight afterall. It must be the heat.

Well, I woke up at 5:30 when a skunk sprayed outside my open window. I made a good bit of progress until my parents woke up at around 6:15.

Lesson learned: writing sex scenes when your parents are feet away is awkward. I think I'll have to put this damn chapter to the side until I'm away from them. Time to work on something else.

Related question: does anyone here play bridge? If so, can I pick your brains with some really stupid bridge questions that I just can't find answers to online?

Unrelated blurt: annanova, I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandmother was great until age 95 or so, and is now 101 and pretty damn miserable. It's awful to lose someone you love, but she was probably ready to go. :rose:

LfT, I know exactly what you mean. This is one of the reasons I find it so hard to get time to write. There's always someone around, whether I'm home or visiting. Writing a sex scene when your kid is around, or your in-laws, or your parents, is almost impossible, at least for me. Which should make the next bit of Ch 5 fun, as the sex scene is next...

My goal for today is to figure out whether I'm writing 3rd person or 1st (or whether it's plausible to switch between the two...)

scrap that. my goal(s) are to add ideas to my notepad on the main story whenever they enter my head, no matter how random,
but my main goal is to write a stroke story, get my head around the mechanics of writing with something that isn't too wordy.

Phew

Best of luck, Nervy.

Sr, if you read this, did you feel yesterday morning's mini-quake?

Given the looks I get when I write in coffee shops, I'm pretty sure I make a lot of weird facial expressions when I write. No way I want to display sex expressions when I'm around family members!

Now get those two crazy kids into bed, PL!

"Sex expressions?" Now there's a title for a story if ever I've heard one. :)

This week I've only had the one kid, as the Boy stayed to visit his grandparents and aunt and uncle in Virginia. Got a little more than he bargained for, I think, as my FIL went into the hospital Monday morning with what turned out to be a pre-cancerous lump in/on his lung. But we are going to meet them all in PA today, at the hub's other sister's.

School starts next week, which should translate into earlier bed times all around for the kids, so I hope that means more writing time. But then there's Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire... sigh. At least Game of Thrones isn't until spring.

Best of luck, Nervy.

The only one of the 22 aftershocks I've felt was a 4.5 a week ago. The most recent one was only a 3.5.

And I have played bridge. Might be able to answer a question or two on that.

My writing chore today will be trying to finish up the review on a habu novella, "The Indian Prince," and get it back to the publisher by tonight. My "The Handyman" launched today.

So getting blotto last night broke the barrier on the elusive sex scene. Got home trashed at 10:30 and wrote until midnight. Printed it out and looked at it 20 minutes ago on my lunch. with the exception of some pretty bad typos the thing is pretty good.

Perhaps I should rename my Muse "JD"

Heh. I regularly write on airplanes. I've noticed people sitting next to me start squirming in their seats as I've worked through some... interesting scenes. ;)

Finally got a new chapter submitted in one of my series. I hate not having time to write.

Skadoosh! Writing goals for the day all done.
I know the secret and I'm not telling. ;p

(never mind the attachment, you didn't see it)

Once again my mind had different writing goals for today than I did. I planned to finish the review on an e-book. My mind wanted a 5,500-word story written instead. The mind won.

So, getting ready to hit the road. Craving writing time. Not sure when it will happen.

I often have this discussion with the DH. Me: I want time to write. Him: You get plenty of time! Me: An hour riddled with interruptions every 10 minutes does not constitute writing time!

My biggest fear for next week, I'm staying for an entire week at my mother's house and have hit a point in my latest story where sex is going to happen, not only that but the building sexual tension is being expanded so working on the next few chapters is not going to be the easiest with her right there. Granted, the woman is no prude and has been to one of my naughty parties but still, it's awkward with a capital A.

Ten minutes is a coffee break :) Hopefully with the long weekend you'll get something Syd.

The Boy is back. The parents are tired. We shall see if any writing gets done...

OK. I'll PM you later this weekend with the questions if that's OK?

Where ya goin'? Vacation, family gathering, vacation and family gathering, or none of the above?

And I understand your point. Quantity does not equal quality. It's a concept that many seem to not understand.

Find a coffee shop, especially if your parents are the hovering type. It was the only way I got anything done for either RL or lit writing this past week, since an open laptop seems to send an "I'm not busy, please stop by and chat or ask for my help" signal to my mother.
