I write stories because I want people to read them

Here on literotica, I have a chance of my story being read and liked. I would love to publish a novel, and for me, Lit is like practice. I get to practice plot and characterization and scenario and I get to sculpt my personal writing style. It takes practice, and Lit provides that.

I know that being an author, even a popular author, means very little in the scheme of things, so I try not to let it bother me too much. Most of my stories are romances, but the sex takes backseat to the story! (with the exception of my straight stories, and possibly Poor Simon)

Most of the authors on this site (in my humble opinion) are here for the attention. There are very few places online where you can put something that you wrote, and hope to get more then a hundred views. When I published my first story here, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that I had gotten roughly 3000 views in JUST ONE DAY!!

I think a lot of stories with great stats here are pretty lackluster. Most readers here are here for a quick wank and aren't terribly interested in plot or characterization.

I suppose that's true to some extent, but I find some readers do like quality stories that have some depth to them. My stories really aren't for readers who just want to skim for the hot parts.

I've been posting stories for somewhat over a year now, and I've found that when I look at the profile of those who favorite one of my stories or me as an author they (if they have an age listed at all) tend to be more mature readers (30s, 40s and especially 50s and 60+). They're people looking for well-written stories with well-developed characters and plot, and are more interested in a good read with an erotic edge, rather than just a quick wank.
