With inflation now running at an annual rate of over 3.6% ( as measured by the CPI ), the Federal Reserve's near-zero short term interest rate policy represents nothing less than an intentional effort to rob savers.


This deranged policy discourages saving, punishes the liquid, the solvent and the prudent and encourages speculation.


For the better part of a decade, first the incompetent buffoon Greenspan and now Bernanke have kept kept interest rates below inflation. The consequences are obvious.
