Slut as a lifestyle.

I can get that you feel that you've been there and done that...

But in your experiences, by your own admission, you didn't enjoy it, so ultimately, there's a huge difference.

I think that your statement that all women in the sex industry (which I don't think even applies to Red) are exploited is patently false.

I have known (and dated) women who were phone sex operators, dominatrixes, web cam girls, porn, and one or two who probably turned a few tricks in their time...

With maybe a couple exceptions, almost none of them were being exploited any more than any person who works for a living. In fact, most of them were probably exploited far less, as they were mostly their own bosses, except for the women that worked at professional dungeons.

From my vantage point, jobs in the sex industry offer a level of freedom that is generally not seen.

Now, here's my problem with the sex industry, and it's not really related to the sex industry at all... It's one of the only places where a woman's work is valued (i.e.; paid more) more greatly than a man's. However, I think that's more of a comment on society as a whole, rather than the sex industry.

She's probably thinking of something I'm not a part of.

I don't get being offended, at all. Hell, I'm happy, and it's such a great arrangement for everyone involved...I don't see the problem.

Actually, I never said anything about my experiences.

Why wouldn't it apply? She's selling sex. Even posted that she sells it to strangers when it's "arranged". How is that not the sex industry?

You're welcome to disagree with my opinion of what drives women to the sex industry, it makes no difference to either of us. In fact, it was my opinion (possibly also incorrect) that having different views on things was a good thing.

No. One. Is. Offended.

Go back through the posts. Find ONE that expresses outrage at your "hobby", or offense, or hurt.

G'head.

It was pretty transparently implied that you had been a part of it at some point.

I have no problem with differing views. I guess that I'm interested in the philosophy behind the sex industry, but also what motivates people to do all sorts of things that they dislike in an effort to make a living.

Let me put it like this; I could get a job as a mechanic, as you brought up, and do it because I love it, and not get criticized, and be respected and everything would be hunky dory.

However, I really like sex a lot better (true story), and if I were to get a job earning money within the sex industry, selling my services in a sexual manner to make a living, that's somehow more degrading, or less than a "real job" in another field?

I guess I just don't fundamentally agree.

You're calling women victims when it isn't always the case.

Are there women who turn tricks who are victimized? Of course there are...

Ultimately, Is it their fault that they need to turn tricks to make whatever sort of living that they can scrape by? Or is it the broader fault of a society that only places value on a women's sexuality, rather than seeing her as a whole individual?

hahaha it's not ;)

I have made exceptions to the rule, TMWFM (Master) i do work with.

Accidental, though.

I am surprised that some chicks are offended by my embracing my sexuality.

Really.

Bravo!!! Hell, if I were a woman, I'd be seen hanging out at the docks!
maybe even have my own lamp post!!
sounds like youre comfortable with your sexuality, me too.
and honestly i cant understand the PC responses???!?!?
I love a slut, you like the lifestyle, lets do dinner AND eachother!!

Many people take dim views on prostitution because there are many women who have been victimized. But in this circumstance this woman has entered into this situation willingly. Her view is "I was gonna fuck anyway so why not make some cash". There is nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I doubt anybody here is in a position to cast stones regarding morality.

I'm a little surprised by some of the responses.
Who am I hurting? None of these dudes are married, after all.

Everyone is single, doing as they choose.

A victimless crime, I think.

I don't get the horror of it all.

I think you misread my response...Not judging you, just was my opinion.

You take money for companionship/sex...therefore escort/prostitution.

This is the way I look at it...I don't think I said anything judgmental other than if I were you, I wouldn't be able to have a clear conscious.

What you do with your body and how you monetize it is not my concern...it's your life. I'm just giving you my perspective...I don't think that's an attack.

I do however hope that your son does not see this behavior...THAT would drastically alter my opinion.

What's funny is that I repeatedly equated what SHE is doing to any other service, whether it be a mechanic or a waitress or whatever. It is no different in my mind.

I don't care that she's fucking people for money. I'm not offended by her desire to fuck people for money. I don't care if she wants to play in a dog and pony show with Giggles the clown on her days off.

ALL I was expressing was that he choice to do that does not mean she's more liberated or enlightened or empowered than anyone else who gets paid for their services.

You're correct that it's no different than any other service. I do not consider my mechanic inherently more enlightened than me because he loves his job.

hell no, I do not bring ANY man around my kid; he has a dad, and a good one. Why the fuck would I subject him to my personal life?
Naw. Never.

He just benefits from the extra cash, he doesn't know a thing about my day job nor my side job. he doesn't need to. Why would I involve him in my personal life?

That would be stupid, seriously. I have never introduced him to any dude I'm involved with...my personal life is saved for when he's with his Dad, part time job or not! I'm not about to do that.

when he's with me? It's all about him I've never understood chicks that bring a string of dudes thru their kid's lives. Not my thing at all.

So you think being miserable (or even just "pretty content") at your job is preferable to doing a job that you enjoy, love, and that gives you fulfillment?

Sorry to hear you have a son, as that changes everything.
Word WILL get out (as you've already said it has, thanking corporate America for spreading the word about you a few pages back) and it WILL be known to him, and probably before he's old enough to deal with it.

I'm not one to judge anyone, as i'm an imperfect creature myself.

Just be careful for the sake of your son... All the money in the world is worthless if it's going to hurt him, and i'm afraid your "business practices" are going to do just that.

wondering the same thing...why would anyone judge me if I'm happily working? I don't get it. Who am I hurting, here?

HIV still has no cure.

he knows nothing about my day job, why would my p/t job be any different?

*sigh*

I think it's silly and false to assume that being happy in your job automatically makes you enlightened, empowered and liberated, and that other people have succumbed to a lesser ideal.

I think it's silly and false to proclaim that you "hold all the cards" when you're being paid for a service, no matter what that service is.

I'm sorry that the fact that I'm not actually offended by her choices, but rather confused by her assertions is so difficult to understand.

LET me explain one more time.

I don't "need" the money from the p/t job. I choose if, and when I get together with them. My choice. That makes me in charge. If i chose to say no forever, I could. How does this make it not my choice?

Good to hear. There are many out there that just dont get it..

While I dont necessarily agree with your choices...I am glad the kid(s) are not aware.

It takes balls (no pun intended) to put this out there....I admire that.

Just be safe

Immoral, yes.

Let's boil it down to the bare basics...

Being happy at your job is preferable to not being happy at your job, right?

You can call it liberated, enjoyable, fun, preferable, however you want to coin it...

Doing something you love doesn't feel like work.

Doing something you hate sucks the life out of you, and makes your existence miserable.

Which would you prefer?
