I Can Help You Edit!!!

Need an Editor? - I CAN HELP YOU!!!

I've noticed there's a LOT of people who are FLOOD Posting looking for "New Patients" but All I will say is that I'm willing to help!

I've helped people before and I'm more than willing to do it again.

PLEASE don't post your stories in my thread, OR in my PM box! PM Me, and I'll give you an email address you can forward things to!

I'm here to help, and my help is F.R.E.E!

OK... MY ONLY RULE, and I'm STICKING TO IT FROM HERE ON IN,

PLEASE HAVE THE COURTESY TO HAVE ALREADY AT LEAST PROOF READ YOUR STORY!

DON'T SEND ME SOMETHING I HAVE TO SPELL CHECK! Most computers have a spell check, and it takes MY time away from other authors if I have to run your story through spell check!

Hope to hear from you soon!

B U M P - Now Accepting New Applicants!!! If You're Looking For An Editor, I Can Help!

Music journalists and fans of techno are generally selective in their use of the term; so a clear distinction can be made between sometimes related but often qualitatively different styles.

I'm sorry to say this but I have NO Idea what you're talking about in this post.

If I may say

This looks like a spam post (new member makes one and only post to a random thread, using generic quotes not related to the topic). He forgot the link to a crap marketing site, which seems to be the reason these posts are made. :(

Either that or 'RONALD2' is one strange fellow. He makes a fair point, though.

ok, i was polite... now fuck off! k? bye bye!

Or what? :D

By the way, "bye-bye" has a hyphen in it. Do you even own a dictionary?

(Ya think that what I'm doing here is trying to signal story authors to beware of the claimed "editor" who can't spell and won't use a dictionary? It's just a public service. You're welcome.)

Woah

Nice to see that everyone is mature on this site. If you don't like how someone writes, or edits, just leave them alone. If an author notices the mistake then they probably won't contact that person to be their editor.
However, I am surprised at the way this person writes considering the fact that I read a story in which the author credited them with editing. The story has done pretty well considering the fact that it is in the gay male section.
This quarrel is making both of you look bad. This fact is sad considering I had respect for both of you before this whole this happened.
All the best.

Well, yes, now I think the writers have an indication of what to expect in editorial help.

You don't just choose to hang out a shingle and become an editor. I'm surprised that writers aren't more protective of what they've created than just to assume that anyone who says they can edit really can.

This would have stopped with the "proofread" shot across the bow if Blackstallion21 hadn't inflamed it.

Really?

Maybe...

But that is exactly what the VE system is - both the official one and the "this month" version. People who are offering to help as best they can. If only "qualified" (whatever that may mean) editors were allowed then the few there are here would be very busy, and a lot of authors would post stories with more mistakes.

Of course, the problem could be reduced by only allowing "qualified" authors to post (perhaps a Master's degree in Creative Writing, plus passing a special exam in grammar, plus having won medals in spelling competitions).

It's simply not true that a bad editor is better than no editor at all. ;)

Rather than be fooled that someone knows writing or grammar, spelling, and punctuation any better than you do just because they hang out an "editor's" shingle, just go ahead and submit your work to the site, unless you see some evidence that someone offering to help can constructively help. This isn't the New Yorker.

Or at least go with those who are honest and volunteer to be a beta reader rather than claim they can edit any better than you can already write yourself.

And VE system here is both long defunct and a lame joke (not that Backstallion21 is a VE, as far as I can determine).
