Maybe Biden can give a speech.
You have nothing to base that on, nothing. If that were true everyone who ever voted for a defense budget we never needed should be frog marched against a brick wall and shot. Truth is, if you want to cut the military budget by half you have to reduce the mission of our military to that of a coastal defense force and surrender our lines of communication and supply to our enemies. Only the unsophisticated, the left, those with zero knowledge of geopolitics, and those who believe in the isolationism of "fortress America" could possibly buy into this shit.
No we couldn't. We don't have anywhere near a 3 million man "army."
You cut the military by half and you won't have anywhere near the size of military we have now, and the Chinese are the primary enemy, bullshit on the left to the contrary notwithstanding.
Yes we do have a three million man military. I just sent you the link if you don't have some source refuting the fact.
Tell me you aren't pointing out that if I cut something in half I won't have as much as I do now. And Sorry even cut in half we'd still be several times more prepared than China. Sure they're our equal in sheer manpower but we've got em hands down in spending, if we cut our spending in half we'd still be spending three and a half times what China is.
Not to mention China isn't likely to attack but that's beside the point.
You said a three million man "army." Which is false. China is the enemy, has been for years, and most of our major contingency plans involve countering their continuing build-up and military belligerency.
You are correct. While I should hold myself to a higher standard I made a common mispeak where I refered to the American Army as the entire thing not as an individual branch. You a correct, I was wrong. But you knew what I meant.
China as it stands is not a credible threat to us, nor are they a likely attacker in the short term. On the list of people who you don't attack the people who buy your products and you give loans to is pretty high. I'm sure their smart enough to know that the moment they fire a single bullet at us that the debt we owe them becomes zero. Not sure they'd like that plan.
Aside from just cus you want it and most Americans want to, hell if we weren't acting like morons I'd want to, there is no reason not to seriously slash the military budget.
Their build up is pathetic and you're not making a good case for why we should balance the budget by punishing grandma and her SS and medicare. Even though I tenatively support raising the retirement age I haven't heard ANY body address the point of how much this will raise unemployment and if it's really worth it when you remember that fact.
Again, I ask; how much has this cost you? Please give dollar amounts.
I'm surprised that you are all of a sudden caring for the well-being of others.
And since you have this new-found compassion, perhaps we can talk about that...
My insurance premium went up by 10% beginning on 1/1/2011. The dollar amounts I pay for insurance - are none of anyone's business except mine and my insurers.
Do you really want to argue that the Affordable Health Care Reform Act was not a fundamental change in America? Really? Next will you argue that Social Security did not change America? Medicare? No?
Your argument is pointless and inane.
You are not listening to people who's job is to assess the Chinese military threat, pure and simple. The security of the nation comes first, without it all else doesn't exist. I don't think you have all the facts. I'll give you that much and no more.

We shouldn't have gotten to this point, but the quick money was there for the already rich... Now they're richer, and the rest of us are fucked.
Fundamentally change and "ruin" are two completely different things... I'm not claiming it wasn't a change...
The law didn't go far enough. We should have gotten single-payer health care passed through congress, and it's a disgrace and an embarrassment that we didn't.
A 10% increase in your insurance is what you're claiming has "destroyed the very foundation of this country" (allow me to embellish just slightly), and i'm proposing that your assertion is 90% false.
The CinCPac commander has been sounding the warning for some time now.
