Leslie E. Banks has died. Anyone heard of her?

She's only one of, if not the greatest, African American authors of our time.

Didn't see her on Yahoo! news or any other outlet. What a load of bullshit.

Any way of dying sucks at that age. No one gets out of this world alive but... 51? Argh. What a loss.

I got the news about her passing from the blogs and writers groups... but the salt on the wounds here is that the mainstream news cares nothing about her. That's a pretty darned big name in the business to have nothing about her 6 hours after she's passed.

Dude, come on. She was a big name in pulp fiction industry. Romance writers are not big names at this time.

Under the name L.A. Banks, she was a contributer to the "Coming Together" series of Books that was once hosted from right here on Lit.

That's right, I remember those. Didn't they do a tribute book of Colly Thomas's stories after she died with intros by some of the authors that have posted here? I bet that's a collectors item.

I've lost track of the number of books they have done and still are doing. All the proceeds of which go to one charity or another. I have a poem in one collection and a story in another.

The Vampire Huntress Legend series was her magnum opus. She also wrote Scarface IIRC.
