It had to happen sooner or later, at least it did in Monte Carlo.

The driver of a Bentley Azure ($363,000) scrapes the side of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class ($108,000) and goes on to take out a Ferrari F430 ($186,000) and ends it all by getting hit by an Aston Martin Rapide ($223,000) which takes out a Porsche 911 ($90,000).

Wait a minute...that 's only $970,000. But then, the lawyers will easily run it up to a cool million (and then some...)

As the article says..."Insert punch line here."

I have seen this story three different times today...and each time the price of the cars was completely different...especially the Mercedes.

In one story the Mercedes was $70,000, the next had it listed as $80,000 and now it's suddenly worth $108,000.

And from the look of this "accident" it looks as if it might have been staged. Most of the damage is superficial scratches.

Just saying...

...and besides, there was a blond driving.

So do they only drive expensive blue cars in Monte Carlo? All the cars in that picture look to be one shade or another of blue.

I agree with Zeb, probably staged. Doesn't really look like that much damage anyway so the actual cost of the cars is irrelevant.

Nonetheless, a fun picture to see.

I suspect that in Monte Carlo there are all colors of cars, but yes, they are all likely expensive. The place is one of the most money concentrated pieces of real estate on the planet.

That said, I doubt even the wealthy would stage an accident involving a Bentley Azure, an Aston Martin Rapide and those lesser carriers of the peasants (Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes).

I mean...a mere Mercedes in Monte Carlo? Mon Dieu!!

Okay, but my point is, there wasn't enough damage done to any of the cars to merit an insurance company covering the ENTIRE cost of each car, regardless of how much they're worth.

Staged or not, a 'fender bender' doesn't equal the car being totaled.

After reading three different stories about this...must have been a slow news day in Monte Carlo, I have come to the conclusion the headline was sensationalized by using the price of the cars instead of the paltry sum it would cost to get them fixed.

Actually, the first "story" I read had an addition to the headline...something about blond women drivers.

Yeah, the cost of the accident, while it might be in the tens of thousands to get them fixed, certainly wasn't a million dollar accident.

ETA: The first story I read on this incident.

Oops, it's a £700,000 prang... Hapless blonde crashes her Bentley into a Merc, Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin
By LEE MORAN

When in Monte Carlo, everything is done in style. And that includes crashing your car.
This was the moment when a woman driver caused a £700,000 five-car pile-up as her Bentley collided with a Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin.

Disaster struck as the hapless blonde negotiated the traffic around the Place du Casino in her £250,000 Bentley Azure.
