A few months back people were complaining that their stories were getting a ton of views before posting. Then it seemed to stop. I submitted mine at 11pm last night and as of this morning it has 22 views.

Another author also started a thread about his story taking 6 days to post. Another thing I noticed is that normally when i have something pending it is in alphabetical order. When I looked at my page today I panicked and thought that my story had not submitted. Come to find out for some reason it is listed way down on my page away from the other chpaters in the series.

Wondering if anyone else has any odd stuff going onand if anyone knows why.

Well, it's taking a little bit longer for my submissions to post, four days instead of the usual three, but I don't really give a crap about that. It's not that big of a hassle. I did note with interest, though, that my latest submission had two views for a day before it went online. It stayed stable, just two views, but it was strange seeing it. Like some others, I'd been getting this exact thing happening during the last period of weirdness, so maybe it's a seasonal thing? ;)

Kurokami - Laurel is on vacation, so it will take a little longer for your submission to be approved.

Love - no. Of course I haven't submitted anything this month. :D

Yes, the same thing here as the OP. Story submitted yesterday. It already has 22 "views."

Laurel may be back. Yesterday, 7/19/11, there were two full pages of new stories dated 7/19 rather than the 1 page or fewer that have been the norm for a while. Mebbe she's working on a backlog?

Homeland Security handles submissions when Laurel is gone. It gives TSA screeners something to do tween stealing your luggage and groping your kid.

I haven't seen that particular little quirk. But what has me wondering is why the number of votes posted for some of my stories sometimes goes down. How can that happen?

The site does periodic sweeps to delete what it considers fradulent votes (but doesn't reveal its formula for this).

This topic gets discussed continually on this forum.

Yes the sweep is on again, as my votes have been fluctuating. The weird view quirk is still going as well although not as bad. I submitted an edited version of a story and it was viewed 22 times on it's first day in but none since.

The one story I just submitted has 57 views already and hasn't been posted yet. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

I started submitting a five chapter story the night before last. Ch. 1 has 56 reads. Ch. 2 submitted last night already as ten. No idea why. Waiting to see how many days it takes before being posted.

Also wondering about the contest results. Maybe our leaders are on vacation and we have some subs. looking at our stories and posting the results. I'm sure it will all come out eventually. Don't forget, we all post free.

I just submitted a story yesterday and it has 22 reads. The number is too consistent to be human interaction. Sounds like they run a series of checks, probably with scripts, looking for certain words, maybe?

They must be getting a lot of submissions, judging by the number of people posting on this topic.

I can't complain...

In that case, I've no complaints. My scores have mostly gone up slightly as the number of votes went even more slightly down!

Yes, four days pending and 48 views...other recent ones were similar.

Hello, I am not an author, just a reader browsing the forums.

I found out that new stories are posted to palm-lit before they are posted to the site.(It's 1:27 am EST new stories are up for palm lit, but not on webpage) I see new stories posted to palm lit, then I come to the site find the author check their member page read the new stories from there. I have read and voted for stories before they are posted to new stories page. Hope this helps.

Are they posting days earlier there than here? If not, I doubt that's what this is all about. I actually doubt it is anyway. First, although views are registered, no votes are. Second, the same number of views seem to be posting to each persons submission prior to posting (22 in the most recent instance). This would hardly happen in this pattern if views were being recorded here from earlier reads.

I submitted a story yesterday and it has 24 views as of 8:30 this morning, only about 12 hours after its submission. I am used to a couple views, but nowhere near that many. Maybe that means it might be rejected.

Or maybe you could just read one of the several threads we've had on this over the past year, including this one. It's a computer program glitch.

I thought I read somewhere else that going back and forth between 'Preview' and 'Make Changes' mode registers as 'views'. Not sure if this is the case, but I have noticed views on my submissions before they hit the site - not so many as you're experiencing though.

We've had multiple threads on this in the last year.

It's a computer glitch in the submissions records program.

All of the "what ifs" that are being brought up have been negated.

I posted 4 chapters of a story, one each day and they all have so called reads from 10 to 56. None of the chapters are posted, all are pending. Waiting to see when ch.1 gets posted.

I submitted a new story of five chapters over the last 5 days. The first chapter is still pending. Don't know why it's taking so long to post. Also as I mentioned above, they all have reads ranging from 10 to 56.

Anyone else submit a story in the last five days and still waiting for it to be posted. It's not like I'm a new author.
DG

I submitted a story about 44 hours ago. It's still pending and has 52 views on it.

Submitted a story Friday night. Accidentally clicked "pending" Saturday before having read what that does (d'oh!). Still waiting. 56 views on it.

How many threads do we need running on an issue where everyone is reporting the same experience--which has been covered several times before?

It's a computer program glitch. If the administrators could fix it, they would have the last five times we went through discussions about it.
