...Running in the White Mountains isn't always this nice...
Once I was a runner...http://www.thenamelesscreature.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/loop_map_cropped-590x656.jpg
...the headwaters of the Pemigewasset River. It clocks in at 33-odd miles (depending several on how many summits you hit that are on spur trails just off the main route), with over 8,000 feet of vertical gain and a dozen peaks over 4,000 feet.
Is this ( ↑ ) from a blog on the Interwebz somewhere? Is there a linky?
Sheeeeeee-it. Fuckin' lunatics. I remember climbing (not running, fer god's sake— nobody in their right mind would have even thought of it back in those days. Of course, nobody in their right mind would even think of it today, either) Lafayette when I was 14. 'course, back then I was wearing fuckin' Bean boots ( can you believe it? ) and an Army surplus pack frame with web-shoulder straps roughly ½" in width that were absolutely guarantied to cut into your shoulders. Padding? Hip belt? Nobody'd ever thought of those, either. Lafayette is nice once you get above the treeline.
That looks like a fantastic trip. Damn. Gorgeous country. I haven't looked at the whole thing yet, so if it's a tragedy, I don't know...
