Congrats Box...I remember our (my wife and mine) 16th, like it was yesterday, but it was 23.4 years ago. Next March (2012) it will be 40 years.
At that time, in March, I will think back to all the wonderful time I had 41 years ago. Just joking.

Actually, it's not all that rare. My older brother has been married over 53 years and my younger brother's second marriage has lasted 35 years. My parents were married 62 years before Dad died. My mother's mother and stepfather were both widows who remarried and stayed married at least 40 years before he died. None of my aunts or uncles were ever divorced.

39 years for us, and we married late.
A local couple have recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. When asked about the secret survival tricks of their long marriage:
The wife said: "Remembering that we love each other, and never going to bed with an unresolved argument."
The husband said: "Let her have the last word and then do what you like; listening to her was important for the first 50 years and from then on I could turn my hearing aid off." At that point she thumped him. Then they kissed.
They added: "Sharing a sense of humour lasts longer than shared interests."
Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren agreed that the couple really enjoyed life and were fun to be with. The TV channel broadcast the formal interview and then some of the outtakes. At one point the camera was shaking because the cameraman was laughing too much. The reporter had difficulty keeping a straight face on camera.
The couple shared a bottle of old single malt whisky with their relations and the TV team. When asked, off camera, whether they had kept the whisky for the special occasion the husband said "No. It was on offer at Sainsburys this week. But I should have gone to Asda [Note: UK version of Walmart]. It would have been a pound cheaper."
Actually the whisky was a present from his former employers to their oldest pensioner.
