I identify as a lesbian, but I have a weakness for accents that transcends the gender of the speaker.

For example, I sat down to see the Watchmen film earlier today, and Adrian Veidt has this really, really soft German accent when he's not speaking to reporters, and it was abolutely divine. I was practically melting on the sofa. :)

So I was wondering if any fellow accent lovers had noticed this too? Do some of you find it's restricted by your sexual preference? I'm curious about people's experiences.

not so much a "weakness" for accents as such but i find i pick up accents very very easy,,if i was talking to anyone with an accent for any lenght of time id start to hear it come out in me

Being born and raised in the south I s'pose I have developed a bit of an accent but it's funny how we aren't really aware of it until someone points it out. I had no idea how many times we say ya'll and things like the ahhh sound instead of the long I sound. But then again I have a friend that lives in Pittsburgh and she says you'uns all the time so guess it's the same all over huh?

In general I'm not a fan of foreign accents, in fact I could never understand what all the fuss was about. Until last month I met this French woman who's been living in the UK for 20 years now and she has this fantastic mix of French pronunciation with the British accent. I'm not the only one who was taken by it, everyone was. Somebody even pointed this out to her, saying just how cute her accent is. And she said she hears it all the time and gets tired of it because she says people tend not to notice the potentially intelligent things she's saying, but the cuteness of her accent.

True... but still, marvelous accent! Also, she has a great personality and is just plain hot.

How about a nice New England accent? Let me parrrrrk my carrrrrrr in your yarrrrrrrd. OK?

Be careful!

Accents can be captivating, but over a long time with the wrong person they tend to be very annoying.

I love accents! Especially a good Irish or Scottish accent. Mmmm.

Irish accent! I'd follow an Irish man to the ends of the earth if he kept talking to me ;)

I think accents are very sexy. I just melt when I hear a woman speak with an Irish, Scottish, or English accent. I suppose it can be sexy with the right man too, but it doesn't drive me to veer too far from my sexual preference for women.

You like English accents? Haven't heard that before. Then again, I guess we're desensitized from our everyday experences.

The thing is for me, listening to a gorgeous accent doesn't create physical attraction where there wasn't any before. It's hard to describe.

Thanks to everyone else for your comments!

Yes, it does depend on what you are used to I suppose. I do find any UK accent to be a bit of a turn on. But yes, I think I understand what you mean. It doesn't create a physical attraction that wasn't already there. But it in and of itself drives me wild.

More than just an accent

I can find an accent plus a certain tone to be a real turn on. I think it goes back to a friends exchange student in high school. She had the most demure french accent (cliched yes) and I found it irresistible. Of course at the 8s worlds fair, i heard all kinds of accents, and i really enjoyed the Australian way of speaking.

But there are lots of others I like to hear as well.

accents

as an aussie i dont belive i have an accent as such lol
but i do find i like italian accent great

I'm from Liverpool and it's an accent you either love or hate, I think. Loads of people dislike it, but you get the odd few who love it and ask me to say things like "chicken", ha! :D

An Irish lilt (southern) just hits me in the scrotum - either sex.
