http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graemlins/images/usa.gifAt least I hope it will be happy for all us U.S. residents. Monday's the holiday and you know folk will be taking today (Friday) off as well, so that's four days of people barbecuing, picnicking, crowding onto beaches, visiting parks, setting off fireworks and, probably, shooting guns into the air

Also, the weather should be scorching in most places. Stay cool. Drink that lemonade, eat those hot dogs, enjoy those fireworks and wave those flags. And stay safe!

Two weeks ago I toured a colonial farm. Its owner in 1776 was a member of the colonial legislature and had thrown his lot in with the Revolution.

In 1779, British troops came up the river looking for him. Fortunately, he had been warned and had left. Not wanting to have nothing to show for their trouble, the British grabbed the farm manager and hung him.

Happy Independence Day to my American friends.

And a Happy Canada Day to us Canadians.

The British were notoriously bad colonizers.

Ahhh yes the Independance Day Weekend and once again I am off from work.

Once again I will be celebrating a nice quiet holiday.

The wife and I will arise nice and early as is usual for us. After our morning showers we will make the short 1 mile walk to the local Bistro for a cup or two of Cappuccino.

This will be followed by some time snorkeling at a local beach then it's back home to get cleaned up again and start dinner. (Ribs)

The evening will be spent along a nice little beach I know watching the Fireworks from the local City being launched. (Not to mention making some of our own Fireworks. It is of course our anniversary.)

The watching the Fireworks of course will be dependant on the weather. It has actually been raining the past few days and we are forecast for rain on the fourth.

We're finally getting some heat for the weekend. Tomorrow I will have to put up the sun shades over the patio. Normally, they go up in June!

The British were noted for their lack of humor when it came to little things like treason. Everytime I hear of incidents like this, I recall Ben Franklin's admonition to the Continental Congress: "Gentlemen, we must hang together..., or— most assuredly— we will hang separately."

There aren't many people who are willing to put everything on a roll of the dice.

Happy 4th !!

The price of liberty was paid by so many....and is still being paid today.

As for me I'll be working both day into the night, but I will be able to see the fireworks from where we're staged.:)

No fireworks here. Fire hazard is too high. :-(

But there should be plenty of cold hard lemonade to keep us cool and hydrated.

Happy 4th

No firing guns into the air here, but maybe a little elementary gunsmithing, some bore cleaning, some dry firing . . . maybe even a little airgun practice in the back yard and fireworks are highly unlikely. No little kids to entertain and I haven't been happy with overhead displays since I got off Active Duty. Never understood why but whenever something goes BOOM overhead, I dive for cover.

No firing of firearms here. It's too blasted crowded for that.

I rather enjoy fireworks, as long as it's not too crowded where I am.

Unexpected loud noises make me nervous as well.

It seems that my making sudden loud noises makes my neighbors highly nervous. Lord knows why.:cool:
