Toyota Acceleration Problem! Yikes!

OMG! Last night, my husband came face-to-face with the Toyota acceleration issue! He was driving our beloved Sion around town and it suddenly accelerated on him; all on its own, it tried to go as fast as it could. He was, fortunately, not on a busy street, and quickly put it into "park" and turned it off. We had thought we weren't in the window of cars affected by this issue, but apparently not.

We'll be calling Toyota today (no shit, right?), and I've been hugging and kissing the husband a lot.

I'm glad your hub was thinking fast and he's ok.

Electronic throttle controls can be affected by glitches in the on-board software modules. I imagine the dealer will plug in a new one and you'll be good to go.

Thank you very much! We've, obviously, spend the morning doing some research and we're happy for all we can get to assure ourselves we're doing all we can and all we need to do. Latest update: Toyota, of course, is going to take care of things and Hubby is with the car right now dealing with things at the dealership. Here's hoping it won't take long.

I sure hope it's just that "easy" to fix--and that the new module will be glitch free.
