Mine took 400 years to figure out. Wav uploads to tindeck, but doesn't seem to play.
Foxtab converts wav to mp3 http://apps.foxtab.com/audioconverter/ So DO it!

well i've not used tindeck but there are people here saying it's easy.
personally, i found voki straightforward. the problems some seem to be encountering might be to do with this clash for those using chrome.
for voki:
click on one of the voki links. it'll take you to the site. there's a 'get your own voki' or something tab. you need to create an account - it uses your e-mail address and whatever password you choose.
when you've registered, they send you an e-mail with a link. it takes you to the site.
there you'll see tabs that say 'create' as well as others across the top.
make your icon - you can keep it simple, even use the one they first offer, then add voice using one of the tabs available. i clicked on 'mic'.
wait a few seconds and a little player thingy comes up with the word RECORD. click on that to record your message. as it's recording, the word STOP appears where it said record, and hit that when you're done.
underneath are little symbols to allow you to listen to what you've recorded. if you are not happy, click CANCEL. then hit the mic/phone whatever icon again to bring it up ready to record.
when you are happy, click DONE.
it then offers you options - click PUBLISH.
it allows you to select the code to make a link here. c&p the code and post it here.
log out of voki.
it should work. it did for me.

i have audacity,but it seemed too complicated off the bat for someone like me unused to dealing with wav files very often.

I used iPhone voice memo, sent it to my laptop, dropped it in ProTools to trim beginning and end, and eq'd top and bottom to avoid 'phone' sound. But every step after the voice memo could be safely skipped by all non-tweakers.
