Ooo, I hope this applies to bears, too.

Hmmm...Ballet, Opera and a lot of that Artsy-Fartsy stuff bores me...I do enjoy strolling through an art museum...or any museum for that matter. I suppose I'm a peasant at heart, but I'm perfectly happy with my life without seeing 'Swan Lake' or "The Marriage of Figaro'. :D

I have no interest in opera or ballet but daddy bear was a music teacher and I was trained thoroughly on both instruments and voice. In the Army I learned to sculpt with a welding torch and then about twenty-five years ago, I learned to draw, then to paint. I tell you, once you learn to paint just a little and find out how hard it really is, when you walk into an art museum and realize just how amazingly good the people they have on display really were it just takes your breath away. Even Picasso, who I mostly despise, when he's on top of his game I just stand there with my jaw open.

And Natural History museums, glass museums--you name it I'll go see it.

Now I build furniture and when I see some of the things my class mates do, it just makes me smile all day long.

I love music...most kinds anyway...including Classical. ;) I can only play the radio though.

I liked Picasso's works in person...it is stunning and photos do not do it justice. Unfortunately, I can only paint walls and houses.

Check out the Glass Museum in Sandwich, MA some time...the works in there are awesome.

Then, Bear, if you're ever in Toronto, drop in at the Bata Shoe Museum. But watch out for the foot fetishists; they tend to loose all control there.

Swan Lake doesn't make sense to anybody, even the people who love it.

The Marriage of Figaro however, is pure peasant drollery, pratfalls and sex... Got a funky little beat, too!

Oh, comedy? I take my anti-opera feelings back every time a Gilbert & Sullivan production comes to town. Gotta love Ruddigore.

And Pirates.

As a school class we got a talk by some expert on Ballet and I started to understand the use of hand signals (now almost forgotten). It's the ballet music that sometimes gets me. The Prokoviev (?) "!Romeo & Juliet" has some superb music in it, but the story moves at geological speed, IMO.
That modern "music" stuff does my head in. I can admire a really fit muscle development, timing and speed, but it all means little when put together.

But I can spend days in a museum. . . .

I play flute--badly. Does that count?

How about you come paint my house?
