Americans like their guns. We like our guns so much we put a compound sentence in our Constitution which allows us to fight off any attempt to limit our possession of them. The first part of the sentence explains why the second part of the sentence was included. In later years, we pretended the first part did not exist. This allows us to keep loaded guns on the coffee table. We tell our toddlers not to touch the gun and all is well.
Even though everything I have stated is true, don't expect it to make sense.
