Pending... and pending... and pending...

I had my first story accepted and posted and I submitted chapter 2 three days ago and every time I log in and check the status it just says PENDING... what's the usual turnaround time?

I received positive comments and feedback from several readers and looked forward to following up with chapter 2 right away, but...

The mills of Lit grind slowly sometimes MFet, there are only so many editors to review hundreds of submissions for content, grammar, format, etc. A submittal of mine has been in the hopper 4 days now. Have patience.

A minimum of three days unless it's a contest entry. You shouldn't start wondering about it until after five days. It's still in the hopper unless/until it is accepted or rejected. If rejected, you will be given a reason.

Thanks TE... patience is not one of my virtues. But once I know what to expect I can accept things for what they are. ;-) I appreciate the quick response and information.

MFets - You've been counseled to have some patience - three to four days till a story is approved is not unusual. It's good advice but not very comforting, I'm not very patient about certain things myself.....I try to channel that energy into other pursuits and activities that I need to accomplish - not always successfully, but that's the best advice I can offer....Ciao

Well after being a reader for a couple of years and now being an author I should become more civilized I guess. ;-)

By the way is there any secret handshake or anything for story authors that I should know about?

There is. You shouldn't ask THE QUESTION - but you just have. (As did most of us)

The real 'anything' is when anonymous trolls start voting low on your stories and leave abusive feedback or PCs. When Anonymous sees you as a target - you've arrived!

Actually, my absence (broken by brief appearance, of course) has been confused, I believe, as a mere distraction from the site with Real Life.

On the contrary, I've worked my way to a Master's Degree in Engineering, with co-Minors in Computer Programming and universal Mathematics, and have since then been hard at work on a massive mainframe, designed and built with the purpose of answering that exact question within a microsecond of the exact time of story-posting.

Luckily for you, I just completed construction, and this could be the chance to give it a test run.

Lemme punch in the variables...

Date and time... check.

Outside temperature... check.

Wind resistance... check.

Lunar positioning... check.

Ratio of humidity versus relative humidity divided by temperature minus windchill factor multiplied by pie... Carry the two...check.

And the answer is...
