Socialism

I've seen you post that a few times. I'm interested to know why you think so. I see the examples here, obviously. What else?

Except for the far right, I don't see anyone claiming that Obama is Liberal at all (much less "socialist").

Obama hasn't pushed for government ownership of anything other than the auto industry aspect of bailout, which started under W...

That said; while arguments could be made that the bailout was "socialist" the methods and end goal were anything but, as I think it patently obvious.

Additionally, I think it's pretty universally understood that most people were against the bailouts, except those who were going to directly profit from them. This is a blanket statement> However, I remember around that time that it was extremely rare to find a person, on any end of the political spectrum FOR the bailouts... In fact, I believe Lady Funk had an argument with one of the wingnuts (don't remember which) in which she declared that they were a horrible idea, and the wingnut clamored that it was needed (this was during W's reign).

As for Obama's centerist policies... I think they are apparent and many.

His gradual acceptance of the Bush Doctrine, as well as flip-flopping on military tribunals. The "secret" war in Pakistan... His absolute pro-business, anti-labor stances. His stance in regards to "education reform", and specifically in regards to propping up the discredited "Rhee" school of thought... I just don't see how anyone can not see him as centrist... Especially when we haven't seen anything from the right other than mudslinging to prove their point... They're still sticking with the lowest common denominator "He's a muslim kenyan socialist!" argument.

I don't know about you, but when I was told over and over and over that he was going to be "the most liberal president of all time", I had some ideas in mind of what that would look like. This sure ain't it. Where are trials for war crimes under the bush administration? Where is the pull-out from Afghanistan and Iraq (and Pakistan and Libya)? Where is the debate about drawing down the defense budget, instead of raising it in a time of "economic crisis"?

I guess either you see it, or you don't...

1) Define it please. Justify your definition with some sort of credible source.

2) Name someone currently in politics who is a socialist according to that definition. Use specific examples.

Alternatively, prove to me that I am a socialist.

What is your definition of socialist? It's not about whether I think he is or not. It's about people who are more or less constantly flinging the term around defining it.

How many times do I have to repeat myself?

Now you're moving the goal posts.

You are a fool. Busybody is right about you.

Yup...in 27 pages those goalposts sure shifted a lot, huh? I went all the way from "Define it with a credible source" to "define it."

You make a lot of sense. I haven't honestly been paying such close attention as I should.

I'm tired of you Socialists begging us to define Socialism, and when we post verbatim the actual definition you say that's not Socialism.

I've defined it many times, and defined it correctly.

And, please tell me how David Horowitz is mistaken, and where the WND article is false.

I'll wait.

See, here's how you work:

Perg - "Obama's not a Socialist. Prove to me he is."

Us - "He's a socialist because of a.), b.), and c.)"

Perg - "But, he didn't really mean to do a.), b.) was reported in a publication that disagrees with my world view, and c.) isn't socialism because I don't feel like it's Socialism. QED."

Now you're calling me a socialist as well? What positions have I taken that lead you to that conclusion?

WHen we roll back "socialism' ie Medicare, SS, unemployment insurance, worker's comp, food stamps, Federal regulatory agencies, "goverment schools", the Fed, etc, are we also going to return the corporation to its 19th century form and bring back debtor's prison?

Why is one logically tied to the other?

Bring back prison for politicians who put us into debt.

We're going to have to. Either that or we go back to debt bondage like they had in Ancient Greece

How about indentured servitude? What's so bad about working off your debt?

Why is one logically tied to the other?

Bring back prison for politicians who put us into debt.

Because SS, Mediacare, Highways, Public programs are SOCIAL programs... the root word that is contained in the term; SOCIALISM.

You do understand that don't you?

Oh wait... you don't.... never mind.

I'm glad I live in a world where the right is willing to speak openly and honestly about wanting slavery back and legal. Bitchin.

Actually you should be putting in jail the economists that they put all their trust in for scamming them. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the congress that there was nothing wrong with allowing Wall Street to regulate itself.

Well having the Fed regulate itself had worked so well.

You're kind of making her point for her... You do realize that, right?

There needs to be government oversight and regulation on business. The lack of it is the chief cause of the financial melt-down.
