Socialism

Well technically, he wasn't a communist. No one ever was just as today you'd be hard-pressed to find a Socialist.

Pretty much as Orwell would have prophesied.

I can't believe that Perg took it so personally just because we point out the obvious, that a little Socialism (a rose by any other name) leads eventually to a lot of Socialism, and boy are we awash in it today with every splinter branch satisfied at their desired results but somewhat ironically aghast at the results of the other "little" Socialist's results...

There is black and white, and if you refuse to believe that, then you will accept grey and let me tell you gray tends to black for when you say ∃ of anything is a good function of government then ∃ is everything ¬∀ and while you may be able to advocate for ∃ you won't be allowed to define it and in this manner its limit will be ∀ for f(∪∃)i [i=from you to the total population] will never tend to ∅ by definition so it is easy to see that it is, indeed, an ∀ or ∅ when it comes to government. (Now, the f(∩∃)i [i=from you to the total population] will tend to ∅ but that is politically unattainable for the obvious reason that the more ∃ is defined, the smaller the ∩∃ becomes.)

To digress...and cogitate and meditate, outloud, for a brief span, and not that it matters...but for almost seven years on the AH, I have been the singular advocate of human individual freedom and a free market, taking on all comers, and there were many....again...not that it matters...(Neverending Story)

I have pleasantly discovered several kindred souls here on the GB, and for that, I am encouraged and hopeful, but cognizant of the differences even between those who agree in principle.

It is inevitable, I suppose; just as I disagree with Ayn Rand concerning abortion, and criticize her for her adultery, I still cherish her work for reasons beyond number. How do we, you and I, who share similar basic premises, concerning the values of life, resolve our disagreements on some of those principles?

I have grown accustomed to standing alone supporting my basic values, but it would be, oh, so nice, to have someone, or several, at my six, when I enter a fray. I notice and applaud the few that have thus far in my brief appearance here, and hope for more.

I ask for no reticence to confront any supposition I present, but I do hope for a civil exchange of differences between like minded thinkers.

Thank you...

Here's something I have noticed with the I'm not a Socialist crowd here.

They hate big business, they think it rips people off (A_J, you know business will not pass on the savings from the FairTax.org to the consumer, they're "greedy."), and then they turn around and point out how well they are doing in stocks...

Are they then making profit off the rip-off artists?

Unindicted co-conspirators?

I learned the lesson early in Vietnam. When you go to war its just you and God in the arena, and when death comes you die alone.

They also parrot just about everything Marx wrote, but still claim they aren't Marxists.

A terse, compressed, but thoughtful offering, James. We all die alone, although few wish to contemplate.

I don't think about death, per se, I do consider the circumstances of the event, from time to time, in my weaker moments of mortal existence, as do you, I suppose.

Edited to add...James...do you have children and grandchildren, as I do?

I have only one child, and thus far, only a 'maybe' as a grandchild, that has a mind....and my query concerns how we might communicate what we have learned, whatever it may be, to them? But then...that is unanswerable, is it not...? smiles..

We differ in one aspect, I think, you have expectations, I do not.

warm regards...

Amicus, you have the patience of a saint, hanging out in the AH amongst those shrieking elitist scolds. That, or you're a sado masochist. :)

off2bed...I know the actor in your avatar and the television show, I watched every episode, but memory fails...at the moment...I will recall...he sought to escape to freedom....my history at the AH mirrors what I discovered in my twenty year stint in Talk Radio, the world is full of ignorant left wingers and I made my beans by embarrassing them.

I did discover that continuing to combat the fog of leftist advocacy, I cultivated a few who also began to question and stand up for their rights as individual people and for that, I am grateful.

Perhaps my efforts enlightened a few, but if only one, it was worth the effort.

Thank you...

The late, great Patrick McGoohan, of The Prisoner. Seen them all multiple times. It's more true today than ever, only we're all Prisoners now. Be seeing you.

We are prisoners of the Matrix, and as the Architect admits, it fails when everyone is happy; they just don't buy it...
