"Well, I believe in the soul... the cock...the pussy... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. Goodnight."

~Crash Davis

What do you believe?

I believe in a good Pinot Noir.

I believe in front porches.

I believe in sycamore trees.

I believe in growling and teeth-gritting and vocal insistence.

And I believe in crediting Skaoi for the idea, because she has a special affinity for the Crash Davis quote. ;)

I believe in the redeeming power of dogs' love.

I believe that human beings are basically wired to be good to each other, and basically want to be good to each other, and that some of them, sadly, get fucked up along the way.

I believe in honesty.

I believe that a good hard shag can improve almost any situation.

I believe in my man.

I believe I am lucky to have a roof over my head, to know where my next meal (and the one after that and the one after that) is coming from and to have friends.

I believe that most arrogance is really insecurity with a mask on.

I believe I've finished my list for now :D

I believe in family.

I believe that everything will be ok in the end.

I believe I will win.

I believe in deep, soulful connections
I believe in the healing powers of a good Rioja
I believe that one day things will be OK again

I believe the more I learn the less I know, and delight in the wonderment of it.

I believe most dis-ease can be healed with rel-ease.

I believe that what we resist, persists.

I believe there is no pain deeper than heartache.

I believe that much of the time the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.

I believe that you already are all that you seek.

I believe that you should always begin as you mean to continue.

I believe that you should always be kinder than necessary as everyone is waging their own war.

I believe that unconventional and unexpected beauty is the most beautiful and precious treasure you can find.

I believe in personal responsibility, hard work, true love, altruism, compassion, and tolerance.

I believe that I am finally wide awake.

I also believe that this is a great thread...thanks DGE. :)

I also believe that this is a great thread...thanks DGE. :)

I am hoping we can compile a body of belief so strong, and so odd, that it will be like the world's biggest rubber band ball of belief. And that that ball of belief will trigger a redemptive shift of consciousness, and usher in a new era of love and a playoff system in college football.

I also believe that there should be Navy seals deployed to set things straight if the number of flavors of Doritos exceeds six.

"DORITOS® LATE NIGHT® ALL NIGHTER CHEESEBURGER® Flavored Tortilla Chips"?

"DORITOS® 3rd Degree Burn Scorchin' Habanero"?

Really?

I believe that the reason I face the challenge I do in this life is because I've faced and beaten all the simpler ones in previous lives. I'm not unlucky, I've just levelled up.

I believe its ok to tell little white lies if you have your fingers crossed.

I believe in counting magpies, and that hurting them is very bad luck.

I believe that 'found' objects are lucky, and you should keep them.

I believe that 90% of people on the internet are asshats.
this also applies to lawyers and medical specialists.

I believe all the adverts about the excellent new make up that will give you long-lasting lip/cheek/eye colour... and I am always wrong.

I believe ...

  • that going all-in with a pair of 4s on the first hand of a Texas Hold'em tournament is probably (game-wise) suicidal
  • that splitting 10s (or face cards) in blackjack should be a lynching offense, unless you're the only player at the table
  • that *not* splitting 8s or aces, especially when the dealer has a bust card up, should also be a lynching offense, even if you *are* the only player at the table
  • that chocolate is the first line of defense between a man and any issue his woman has
  • that people who drive >5 mph under the speed limit in the left lane should be subjected to a PIT maneuver into the median (especially if it's a deep one, filled with ice-cold water)
  • that cats are the most selfish yet loving creatures on the face of the earth
  • that I'll come back with some more nonsense another time :D

And I believe in crediting Skaoi for the idea, because she has a special affinity for the Crash Davis quote. ;)
Haha, if by affinity you mean obsessed, why yes I do love me some Crash Davis.

I believe in the redeeming power of dogs' love.
This just warmed my heart!

I believe that the reason I face the challenge I do in this life is because I've faced and beaten all the simpler ones in previous lives. I'm not unlucky, I've just levelled up.

I *LOVE* this. I think I'll start believing in this one as well! :D

I believe...

...that not all people are redeemable
...that you need to give them a second chance though, just to check
...most people over complicate things
...not enough people enjoy life
...nobody knows the real truth of anything
...we only get one time around the block - use it wisely!

I believe it's better to make an idiot of myself then to tell a boring lie.

I believe that humor is lawless.

I believe that art can, will, and does change the world.

I believe that good sex with the person I love is the closest I get to oblivion.

I believe that human touch is as vital as food.

I believe that all pain deserves respect and consideration.

I believe I can survive anything.

I believe I can make anything.

I believe cats know how I'm feeling.

I believe I look best in a cotton dress and nothing else.

I believe in unconditional love.

I believe in the benefit of the doubt.

I believe I am a water nymph.

I believe in sushi.

I believe in watching ducks for hours.

I believe tonight is pizza night and so help me god, I will make an icecream pancake and then put marshmallows in it.

I believe that music can speak directly and effortlessly when other things fail.

I believe that the small things will win out over the grand gestures (although I am much better at the grand gestures).

I believe that chobani yogurt is manna.

I believe that today will be a much better day...it has to be.

In no particular order:

I believe many of the things already stated by the intelligent people responding to this thread.

I believe we need to more closely adhere to the following, despite it's adoption by a corporation:

"In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations."
- From The Great Law of The Iroquois Confederacy

I believe that some of life's hardest decisions have to be made alone, but that we should never fear reaching out when it gets too painful to sort out on our own.

I believe I need to learn to practice what I preach.

I believe that there is a reason why I've been through so much in my life.

I believe I have yet to figure out that reason.

I believe I am lucky to live in a country where I can speak my mind.

I believe every human being is entitled to fresh water sources.

I believe intolerance is bad and I am bothered, greatly, when I see it in myself.

I believe there is nothing more important on this earth than the love of a parent for a child.

I believe I will never experience that kind of love.

I believe that when you stop learning and growing as a person, that is when you die even if your body exists on this earth for another 50 years.

I believe we have to experience pain in order to also experience joy.

I believe this is enough for now; but I believe I might have more to say in the future.
