Okay so last year was my first writing here and I found out through a friend that a character from my series was nominated for sexiest male. I checked and he was right. Now I'm not the type to "clock watch" so I swore to myself I would not keep checking the thread nor would I ask anyone who I am friendly with here to vote for me nor before I was nominated wouldn't ask anyone to start it for me.. I will admit to mentioning it on my bio page because I was flattered and pretty much said if you want to further the cause....
Having said that today is the 28th and the nominations are over. I went to that category and according to a rough count I will certainly make the final four so now I will admit to being a bit excited to at least make that and have a chance (although a small one as whichever Jaz Cullen character made it all her fans will get behind it) but not bad. Then I go to the original award post and read this:

After the nominees for these categories are chosen, they will join a list of nominees in each story category on Literotica. The 4 story nominations in each story category have been chosen thusly: we took the top voted story in each category from each month, for a total of 12 possibles. (These are being tallied right now, and will be finished in time for the contest.) From those, we whittled it down to the top four stories with the highest votes.

So let me get this straight (and I mean that so if what I say next is wrong correct me) they have a month long nomination period. Whittle it down to the top four in each then instead of it being just those four. They take the top voted stories from each month then go down to the final four which (assuming/guessing) will be pitted against the top 4 from the nominations. okay so why friggin bother with nominations?

Or is the top 4 stories in every category go up ALONG WITH the top four in all the ones that were nominated? Just that the stories are picked by straight up views votes and the categories that closed today are the ones chosen strictly by nomination. So if someone can clarify this for my dumb polish ass I would greatly appreciate it.

These contests aren't real gauges of anything concerning the stories or aspects of stories, you realize, I hope. It doesn't really matter what "the process" is in something as full of control holes as these are.

Or were you just trolling for votes (which would be one of those big holes in the meaningfulness of these contests)? ;)

Well seeing the nom's are over I don't think I'm trolling for anything. Although I'm sure someone will accuse me of the "alt" thing seeing I got some newbie votes. That's something I am on the fence about. I mean yeah virgin posters voting on their first day and never posting again screams alt. But on the other hand I think many are legit as well. I mean a contest should make people want to sign up to throw some support to an author they like. Actually in the "male" thread there's some back and forth of Jaz Cullen being an alt and everyone voting for her more alts.
Back to trolling I did freely admit to soliciting my readership but did not go as far as putting the nomination thread in my signature like I saw an author do last year.

Whatever contests should do, they've jumped the shark with them on this Web site.

Beats me. Since the contests mean nothing, so does the process. Spend the extra time writing.

Shit you're right!! If I wrote at your pace I could have turned out atleast one maybe two in the time I started this thread!:)

Well, I'm trying to get another one finished tonight--before starting a final edit on someone else's e-book. And I'll admit I'm only 2,500 words into it and there hasn't even been a sex scene yet. Looks like another late night.

As far as you and this--and some other--threads, you are SO following a trail blazed by dozens of other newbes of the past here. Almost painful to watch.

The nominated categories are completely separate from the category winners. Those special categories have nothing to do with the monthly winners in the story categories. Only those nominated in the special threads are eligible for the special categories.

Thank you! Jeez that wasn't hard was it? Okay the more I read it the more that is what I started to read it as. Thank you for the straight up non sarcastic answer Dark it was appreciated. Apparently I am not as bitter or jaded or as high falootin' as others here would like me to be.
You know I make an honest effort to respond to every feedback I get sent through lit. At least a dozen times I have been told that they were surprised that I not only answered there question but did so passionately and in great detail. I found myself wondering why they would think it was such a big deal. I am slowly starting to see that. I guess at this point I should be becoming the "all knowing all powerful" author whose readers have to wait with bated breath as I work on high to bring them my latest offering that they should be grateful to receive.
Whatever. I think I'll continue to troll down here with the immature newbs than sit at the cool table with some lit's mucky mucks. Thanks again Dark.

Now see that SR? was that so hard? A little common decency? 2,500 words without a cock getting sucked? Holy shit! That sounds like a story better help that guy out and get him writing for the strokers. BTW if you're writing and editing why have you been posting here? Christ man you could have been done by now!

No problem :) Whenever I see a question I know the answer to, I just answer it.

Yeah, a lot of them may have been asked before, but if you've ever tried to use the forum search feature, you know that once it's gone of the first couple of pages, it may as well have never existed.

Well, on the 2,500th word, yes, the cock is being sucked.

You're boring when you get transparent like this, but I have a high tolerance level for multitasking. I'm writing a letter to my lover too--and, I might add, watching a dirty video. I read in on Literotica and post as I like, though. :D

Nope. Typing with both hands. My stories are hotter than any DVD I've seen.
