Is there any way to find out how many people have added you as a favourite. I know the story details tell you how many people favourite the story, but I can't find anywhere where my author total is and I am curious.

Vain I suppose, but curious...

Once you have hit the top 250 authors on being favorited, you make a list that can be accessed by clicking on "sneak peek" on the home page (I have no idea why this is still a "to come" feature--it's been that way for four years that I know of). This will give you the top 100 favorited authors list. Click on the "switch to old version" slug at the upper right corner, and you get the full list. Mind you this is just the top 250 authors of thousands and thousands of authors listed at Literotica, however. (As of the last time a checked, there were 50,610 authors of stories on this site--the number changes by the minute, though.)

That's rather surprising, that there are that many authors on Lit. It's also surprising that I am apparently in the top .1285%, in terms of popularity. It's also not all that big a deal, because there are quite a few authors on this forum who rank higher than I. :D

Unfortunately right now there isn't away although honestly in some of the upgrades lit now tells you at the bottom of your stories the views comments and how many fav's for that individual story I would think they could swing this enough people would have to ask. For the many of us that aren't in the top 250 right now there is one way that I can think of and I tried but it was so tedious I gave up.

If you are fairly new to writing go to your recent activity and print the last 30 days worth of activity. mark the day you do it and every month do the same day. I lasted 3 months like this before I realized how tedious it was as some people add then drop you. I then felt like an idiot because I'm like "jeez is it that important?" I would like to know but it's not worth the hassle art least for me. maybe you would like to try it really would be the only way.

A question that I would love the answer to is how many of these 50,000+ authors are actually "active"? I mean if you scroll through the author index which i do from time to time (admittedly if it's a female with a pic I will click on their page out of pure male piggishness to see what they look like) It's amazing that many of them have not posted a story in years so I wonder what the active list (as in posted last 6 months or so) would look like. Even a few of the top draws haven't done anything in awhile.

Also the Fav's count is as skewed as voting. How many of the top 250 (and I know it's not everyone so don't take offense if you or anyone looking at this are on it) I mean how many have "alts" that fav them or tell their friends to bookmark them so they can vote on their stories.
It also varies on the reader. some people fave you read all your work then un-fav others never take anyone off. Shiggymoto is an odd example he is one of the top yet hasn't written anything in quite some time and really doesn't have a big body of work at all. I read a couple of his and my opinion is decent not great. But i think he had a geeky kind of appeal and people "liked" him or he has a lot of "friends" regardless it's like anything else some are legit some are padded. Selena, many feathers and Alwayswantedtoo certainly have the body of work to back it up others it's a little questionable.
Okay that was more than I intended but it's I've been up since 5am and have had a pot of coffee and have to do a story start to finish today because I forgot about it and the author who did chapter 2 sort of needs my chapter 1 before he can post:eek:
Gist is I like the OP would love to see lit do this for the majority of us not in the top 250 but don;t see it happening.

Check the famous owlwhisper’s two stories – he provides an incredible amount of info that was previously secret…

…and FYI the “favorites” count is probably the most honest number on LITEROTICA…

We at ScouriesWorld have wondered the same. We came to the conclusion that it’s a lack of attention to details that seems to pop up all over the site… a lack of professionalism... hard to understand...

For those that don't know, Grand_High_Poobah is one of scouries alts. "She's" his way of getting his propaganda out to everyone without it seeming like he is bragging. it also keeps his post numbers down so he isn't considered a member of the forums. Like that all works so well.

What is really funny is that so many of the people who have him favorited, also has his female alt Sarahhhh as the only other name on the list. Well, some of them do have Freddie on there but not many.

The favorite list is as easy to rig as the number of votes on a story. I'm sorry to say, scouries figured out a way around the safeguards early but he has been stopped or at least slowed. That's why he wants to know how the sweeps work. His halfass scripts have been shut down and he wants them back to working.

Even a few of the top draws haven't done anything in awhile.

I would guess that a good three-quarters of those 50,000 authors have posted one story and then disappeared--and that only a couple of percentage points represent active authors. However, I think that most of the 250 top authors are reasonably active. If you don't post regularly, your readership tends to evaporate, and the line for making the top 250 is spiraling up. I get favorited at least twice a week but have remained in virtually the same spot on the 250 list for the last couple of years. Thus, most of the nonactive authors are aging off the top list, I think. There are some, like Colleen Thomas, who are gone but have been so popular that they continue to be favorited regularly, though.

I think the posters of stories in the early years mounted up high numbers largely because the competition was slim and the voting wasn't as stringent as it has been in the past. This, I think, hurts the top-rated lists the Web site provides, because the top of the lists tends to be dominated by folks who are long gone, not still producing, and this disadvantages the visibility of those now writing and posting under far more stringent ratings and far more competition.

Another slice of the favoritist list--and the spiraling up number of total authors--that I find interesting is that it shows the great divide between the heart of the Web site--it's story file--and this forum. Most on this forum don't even have a single story on the story list. Near 51,000 folks who do, but a forum where most of the posters haven't put anything at all into the story file. It's like there's practically no connection between the bread and butter of Literotica and this forum.

I am not into any "politics" on lit. but I am starting to see the cliques and "Hierarchy" a bit around me. Also learne not to post anything in GB unless it's a sort of silly question. I don't feel the need to defend everything I say to that degree when they are spewing worse, any way question;
"Scurries" is this another Boston fiction/superhero ralph/ alt? or is this another person? Not sure I suppose it doesn;t matter but I do think the fav's list can be rigged easily by Alts it takes five minutes to make a user ID or you just ask your friend to make one then his friend etc.
I'll be honest my wife has an ID here but I have asked her to never comment on my stories or vote. I also told her to put a few more authors on her fav's page so it doesn't look ridiculus. So it is very possible to rig that just like anything else.
anyway main point here is who the hell is Scurries? anyone want to give me the low down?

As I said in that post I am not calling out a specific person but I think honestly you have to be pretty naive to think it can't be rigged. all it takes is alt's and friends. it takes five minutes to make a user id yourself for an alt if you chose or you could just have a friend do it and fav you then get his friend to do it. I think if anyone really tried they could get fifty "fav's" in a week to 2 weeks. I have no idea how many I have I get a few new every week because I have consistantly been able to get something out on a weekly or bi weekly basis. I also get booted from one as well so it's hard to say. But bottom line is anything can be rigged just takes good old human nature and there is plenty of that on here.

If you must know who scouries is, go to the story feedback forum and find his thread there. Between that and looking at the themed contest threads for the last year or so, he does a fine job of demonstrating who and what he is.

Nobody trying to describe him can do his asshattery the justice that he delivers in his own words.

Or, like Pavlov's dog, you can ring his bell by mentioning his name and he'll come running to deliver his cukoory in person. Well, at least in his Groucho Marx glasses disguise as "Gabby"

The reason for his great number of views is, he was the first one to figure out that the Incest category opened to the start each time, so he used the " to put himself at the top of the list.

Manu saw what was happening and changed the starting point for each category to open randomly.

So another of his bullshit tricks was shot down but the initial results still stand.

I found that secret out by accident. I submitted a story named Little Mandy and Her Daddy in which she and her father pretend she's about eight years ago, when she's actually twenty. I continued the pretending when I had her wear a Brownie Scout uniform when she got into the shower and sucked him off. Lit. rejected that one, saying such role-playing was not allowed, so I changed her to a cheerleader in her college and she wore the uniform into the shower. That was okay, but they put quotation around "Little" in the title.

That story, "Little" Mandy in Her Daddy's Shower has about three times as many views as the next highest total, and over 2,000 votes. I don't think it works any more, though, because I posted two other stories with the first words in the titles enclosed in quotation marks, and they didn't do anything special in terms of views or votes.

It works at the other end even better. I have a title starting with a "Z." It just was the title I picked, and it's not a particularly special story. But it's got the most views and votes of any of my other stories. Apparently a lot of readers are going to places like the end of the list to find something to read.

Sometimes you guys make me laugh! Manu shot own one of Mr. Scouries tricks? To set the record straight here are the numbers:

"Daddy", I Whispered's yearly sales figures are as follows:

2006: 321,000 (story came out part way thru the year)
2007: 407,000
2008: 411,000
2009: 463,000
2010: 516,000

"Ohhh Mommy"'s yearly sales figures are as follows:

2006: 99,000 (story came out very late in the year)
2007: 554,000
2008: 715,000
2009: 821,000
2010: 807,000

FYI "Daddy" had 27,263 votes and "Mommy" had 15,638 at the end of 2010.

Comments? 738 for "Daddy" and 389 for "Mommy".

"Daddy" stilll generates 2+ emails a week and "Mommy" 1+ five years later.

So while "Mommy" has more reads "Daddy" gets more feedback.

And the ROYALTIES are more than gratifying...
