Hey Darian take some advice here. JBJ is constantly mocking us hacks on LIt for giving our stories away fro free. He says real authors charge for their work so do yourself a favor. Give him nothing. Sell it to him and at twice the price you would charge someone else.

JBJ's idea is half baked. He doesn't have a clue what's involved, especially if he plans to pay short story authors. But I doubt he's serious anyway. Just trying a new angle at his run at the board. It's better than the other side to his game, but it isn't worth much notice.

There are some excellent unknown writers out there in the world, and they're giving their wares away for free. On the otherhand there are oodles of anthologies filled with newbie crap, and plenty of venues that pay nuthin or little. So I was thinking of something that actually pays for material, and something youre not embarrassed to show people.

As for the AH Peanut Gallery, I figure they already know they wont be submitting anything, and wanna be clever if they cant be talented.

He's a sham. He hasn't the foggiest notion what to do. There are anthologies building around among the publishers if you want to do that. Do some googling.

Let me say it again.

There are literally tons of anthologies out there. I believe many of them require you to pay an application fee, and the anthologies I've read are filled with crap.

So my thinking is: Wouldnt it be cool to read an anthology of well crafted fiction/non-fiction by talented unknowns? NOT pot-luck.

Its not STAR SEARCH or AMERICAN IDOL!
