Who would have thunk it? Though here on Lit she did occasionally start a thread that became interesting in one way or another.

I was just about to edit my post by saying that giving her exactly the info she needed was a bit like offering a band-aid to a brick wall: just what is needed to just what cannot accept help.

She can't help it though. There are issues deeper than what she asks about.

On there (lint) she recently became a phenomenon in another respect: for creating meta-threads. In a thread she started seeking hypothetical advice for hypothetical medical questions the thread quickly became a discussion about such things as the inability of the ignore function to work on thread titles, the ability of some versions of VB Bulletin to allow entire threads (and their titles) to be ignored, and the metaphysical questions concerning whether mere knowledge of someone asking a question is tantamount to accepting that the question is legitimate.
Dollparts (Dolly) has this massive ability to pull well-meaning concern from astoundingly well meaning posters, and then to somehow either not hear it or not follow it, and after a suitable time, to ask the same question again.

Yes and it's a good thing she isn't because no one gets her. She actually does listen to advice if you get her one on one in a PM and break it down for her. Posting on the boards isn't a good place to get the advice she is looking for, but since she has no one in her life that really cares other than some good friends who don't live close enough, it's all she's had.

Well there are people that are getting on her case at Lint too. She has friends who she can talk to now but it doesn't help her situation as much as it could if they were there.

I tried to help her with a computer problem once when she first came to Lit. It was a simple problem with a simple solution and she somehow turned it into the Gordian Knot. After over an hour I felt like I was about to lose my mind. I remember dolf sent me a pm telling me I was a nice person with a lot of patience(no draconian censorship by invisible mods, please, just use some common sense here.) I finally had to stop posting with Dolly rather than lose my temper with her.

A lot of us had "last straw" experiences with her like that. Mine had something to do with taking some medication along with some other medication. I posted a bunch of links and clear-language explanations of them. She did the same thing; strung it out into a mess of contradictory nonsense. I remember posting "this is the last time I'll ever post in one of your threads."

yeah, this. I have tried and I tried even harder on lint, but I prefer to save my energies for face to face people who may actually change.
