Wait...I'm in the West! Double-yikes!
A huge winter storm was affecting the West Coast on Sunday, poised to dump up to 10 feet of snow in some higher elevations, and causing flooding and potential mudslides in lower spots while impacting driving conditions and air travel, forecasters said.

A winter storm warning remained in effect through Monday afternoon for California's Sierra Nevada mountains, from Yosemite to Kings Canyon, according to the National Weather Service. "Storm totals of 5 to 10 feet above 7,000 feet are likely," the weather service said, and periods of heavy snow will continue through Monday. High winds are also forecast for the region.

"Travel into the high country of the southern Sierra Nevada may be difficult, if not impossible," according to forecasters.
Ahhhhh! It's time to panic! The end is neigh! I mean nigh! The low-lands are gonna be underwater! The high-lands are gonna be under snow! We're gonna be out of coffee like everyone stormed in and freezing to death in England and France!

Somebody do something!

I said, "Quit waving the snakes."

My creek is up and starting to overflow, the highways are closing in the Sierra's and it's cold.

I made origami boats today and floated them down the river that formed in front of my curb. I hope that helps.

We were supposed to get snow here in the east, but it pushed off to sea and missed us :D

Dear Santa,

Thank you for the new pool in my front yard. I must admit that I was a little surprised as, first, I was hoping for a pony, and second, I really didn't want to lose my front lawn. But I suppose a pool is much better as it doesn't need mowing.

And such a deep pool, too! A woman and her dog stepped into it just now and went right down. In fact, they haven't come back up.

I'm digging out my favorite pool toys and flippers right now.

Yours,

Nay! The end is not nigh. And you need to stop horsing around with the neigh bit.

I launched another origami flotilla today. This time, they were crewed by the earthworms that have been rising up from my lawn.

I know the rain is creating panic here in the southland, but at least I'm doing something about it.

LOS ANGELES — The latest in a series of powerful storm systems is bearing down on California, pelting mountain areas with heavy rain, snow and high winds, prompting evacuations and leaving thousands without power.

Virtually the entire state has been affected by the storms that began Friday, dumping moisture from far Northern California south to San Diego. More than 12 inches of rain have fallen in parts of the Santa Monica Mountains in the south, and 13 feet of snow has accumulated at Mammoth Mountain ski resort.

SKI MAMMOTH!

More, More she Cried!

LOS ANGELES — After days of relentless rain, Southern California on Wednesday was facing the most intense storm system yet, with hundreds of homes evacuated, roads covered with water and mud, and residents anxiously eyeing already saturated mountainsides denuded by wildfires.

Forecasters expected heavy rain to move into Arizona, Utah and Nevada, but the focus clearly was on Southern California, where a monster storm was expected to bring torrential rain, thunderstorms, flooding, hail and possible tornadoes. Officials warned of possible rainfall rates of 0.75 inch to 1 inch an hour and thunderstorm rates of 2 inches an hour in the region.

Steady rain began falling late Tuesday and was expected to intensify.

Anybody in San Berdoo? I'd like to see what the Santa Anna is doing. Any pictures?

I'm an hour west of SB but the rain is roaring down and the street is filling up. Good thing I don't have to go anywhere!

The Weather Channel reports that seventeen feet of snow has fallen in the Sierra Nevada from this storm. That's impressive even by Buffalo, NY standards!

I want to know who the silly person is, that's up there with a ruler measuring it.
