Hi,
I know that when I submit authors notes with my stories and Italicize them that they show up that way on lit. However, in a couple of my stories I italicized several words to emphasize them aand a couple of sentences where one of my characters was hearing a "voice" from her past. these did not come out in italics. I was wondering if it odesn't get picked up by them or was maybe that just a fluke. I usually copy paste my stories would it help if I used word doc instead or maybe leave a note for Laurel/Manu in the box. Just wondering if someone out there had the answer.

Hey Lovecraft - those italics came in as the administrators added them when it can be done post transfer.

When you copy/paste the file coding on the receiving end puts it all into one format out of need - it won't pick up italics. In order to get italics embedded, you have to download it and warn them in your notes for "safety". The only negative is that adds a day or two to the process.

Good luck!

You can use the codes in here and still c/p your story into the submission page.

Hi Mike!

Thanks for submitting. Your question is one we get pretty regularly, so I thought I'd answer publicly.

While we will help to add minor formatting (i.e. italics or bolds to beginning and end notes), formatting within the story must be added by you. This is to ensure that we don't introduce formatting errors into your story, and to make sure the bolds and italics are as you'd like them to be. :D

If you copy and paste your story into the Story Text field, all formatting will be lost. If you want the bolds and italics to show up in your submission, you must either 1) upload the story as a .doc or .rtf using the UPLOAD button beneath the text field, or 2) manually add the HTML code. For more information on this, please see this How-To by Alex de Kok: http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=45432

Also, uploading a story a Word .doc will not delay the posting of your story. The only factor that delays posting is the addition of multimedia (audio or images).

Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me with any questions relating to specific submissions. :rose:

Actually any basic HTML formatting codes will work when you include it in your story. <b> for bold, <i> for italics, and <u> for underline. Just remember to use the closing tags as well (</b></i></u>)

I had issues with submitting a .rtf file in the past, the formatting went all loopy and parts of a chapter were lost because of it. Once I added the formatting tags within the chapter itself and resubmitted, they (the formatting...bold, italics) showed up as they should have.

And this was 3 or 4 years ago.

If you use the formatting tags within your story then copy and paste it into the Story Text field, you can see the formatting if you hit Preview before you submit.
