That I will completely agree with! I won't pretend to be the most eloquent person in the world, but have a vocabulary please! My pet peeves are the over use of the word "like" and people who use "fuck" far too often and far too loudly at all times.

I do that, both "like" and "fuck", and I always realize right away and feel so stupid. "Like" is another thing I blame on the Irish.
EDIT: I love the Irish in general but they do have a few bad linguistic habits.

I'm guilty as well. I think my hatred is my own issues with me saying it. I've made a conscious effort to not say fuck as much. It's a powerful word and it shouldn;t be watered down. When I say fuck I want it to mean FUCK!

I do try to limit my usage of fuck too. Like is my biggest problem, sometimes I start thinking in Irish-English and I can end up saying "like" like three or four times in a sentence.

Actually some of the things I hate the most is when people write "u" and "ur", that just annoys me.
And come on people, the difference between your/you're, two/to/too, there/their, it's really easy. Go back to kindergarden and learn it!

I was just having that conversation with a group of friends the other night. Texting u or ur is perfectly understandable. You only get 140 characters. Anywhere else you can actually type out the additional letters for god's sake!

And the fact that people confuse your/you're, two/to/too and there/their just makes me sad. Especially confusing TWO and To/TOO. Thats a big WTF (if I may use text speak). Is that what our school system has come to? With all this talk of revoking federal funding of NPR people have also tried to lump PBS in with it. That means Sesame Street damn it! Obviously if some people had watched more Sesame Street as kids they would know better! Get your damn hands off of the Count and Grover!

To/too is a common typo too, so it's not always fair to judge on that one.

There is a difference between a typo and blatant stupidity. Mistakes can be forgiven.

I sometimes think those who speak english as a second language tend to speak and type it much more proper than native speakers...unfortunately. I know quite a few French Canadians and their English is proper to a fault. Sometimes I have to correct their emails and memos because while they are correct, they sound completely goofy.

Sometimes (mainly when tired) I end up directly translating my thoughts from Danish to English and it just doesn't make any sense. Translating dead metaphors just come out in Moron instead of English

But in fairness, you have an excuse at least. And you get all the cool names like Bjorn and Bergut (which I have probably misspelled...apologies)

I have also found when hanging around the French Canadians that as the night goes on and more and more drinks are consumed their ability to speak English goes away. Sucks to be the only non-French speaker at that table.

It depends on how often you repeat your "wow". The first time is perfectly fine (wait, I think it's been like half a year since you said it the first time)
