It's a very old Egyptian symbol of protection and power. There are some incredible artifacts with the design on - unsurprisingly my favourite is a turquoise carving at the British Musuem.

I redyed it last week so that there was more blue on top with turquoise underneath, so it looks a lot darker. Might go blue and black for Hallowe'en.
