It's a great story to read. I think I read it the first time when I was about 9 or 10 (shortly after he wrote it, before anyone else says it! Yeah, it was written in 1910.), and have re-read it a number of times in various anthologies. I always enjoy it, even though I know how it ends.

Had a surprising attack of 50's Housewife-ist Saturday. It made me think about why I'm not doing that. Also I thought about how differently things might have gone in my life with different partners and self knowledge. It was a lovely thing for a while. I'm over it now. LOL I suspect it will keep coming up from time to time.

Yaknow, you can stuff as many fetishes in one story as you want to, but it can be really hard to read a nurse/incest/bdsm/bondage/glory hole/pilot/police officer/puppy dog/governess/fire-play/needleplay in a truck stop/drive-in movie/space station story without a scorecard and those orange glowy things they use to direct airplanes in....
