From Return of the Jedi to the first of the Timothy Zahn books there is a gap of five years. In those years we know Princess Leia marries Han Solo blah blah Blah.
But.... as Much as we all like the idea of Luke Skywalker, last of the Old jedi and first of the new...
Surely the Jedi in their infinite wisdom didn't put all their eggs in one basket. Surely there were hidden enclaves of Jedi, and even if those were done, there was always those Jedi who were not deemed worthy to become Jedi in full.
So if you were a Jedi master and you barely escaped order 66 with your life and you have no idea who else did, surely you would look for these enclaves, these forgotten Jedi and find them, hide them, train them, wait for the chance to reveal yourselves.
And my idea is thus:
Jedi Ahsoka Tano, Former Padawan to Anakin Skywalker, was on a distant planet scouting for a seperatist base with a small squad of clones when the order was given out. Barely surviving the results of that order when the squad attacked her, Tano used their shuttle to leave the planet and head into the Core planets. She made it as far as Corellia before learning of the destruction of the Jedi Order. Not knowing what to do really, she sold the shuttle for credits and hid among the unwashed on Corellia as the Empire arose in power.
Then after two years, hiding out, she was granted a force vision. Bolstered she set out to collect and train those who had been forgotten. Those who had been sent to the Medical, Engineering and Agricultural Corps, those who had been deemed as too old to begin their training or seen as not strong enough.
It took many years and cunning. She ran from Vader and his troops so often over the next 5 years, it became second nature not to trust.
Finding a subtropical world way out on the rim, turned out to be rather close to Endor, Tano brought the surviors she could find, those who needed to be trained, and there, she set about rebuilding the Jedi. Far from prying eyes, they trained.
Not many. But over 20 years, they grew, and more were born. For Tano refused to believe that Jedi should not have children. For if the order were to survive, they needed Children.
After many years of exile, news came. The Emperor was gone. Vader was dead and the Rebellion, had won. Tano had refused to think of joining the Rebellion. She didn't think it would work. But now, Jedi were free. And they could go forth and join the Galaxy again. It took years.. before they dared to believe it. But now, as the New Republic beckons brightly, and Luke Skywalker is the face of the Jedi, they set out from their home on the planet they call Aki V and head for the New Republic.
Tano herself led the way, taking her closest followers to Couruscant to meet with Mon Mothma.
The meeting went better then Tano could have hoped though Borsk Feylar could do with being pushed out the window or so she though. Astounded at the meeting of her master's daughter, Tano however neglected to tell the Skywalker offspring of her connection to their father. She kept that to herself.
So now the Jedi, only numbering in the low 50's are back, still scattered, broken after years of oppression but still good. Which side will you fall on?
For as we all know, The Empire is still around. Their new Mysterious Commander is making life hard for the Republic and there is more bad news on the horizon.
-- Jedi? Imperial? New Republic Senator? You pick.
OOC: IF there is enough interest in this game, I will be happy to start a game.
