Now there are several ways to break in boots but the best is probably the most uncomfortable. (It is also the way I break in all of my boots.)
Find a pair of good quality leather boots that suit you. Find the size that fits you best then buy a pair half a size smaller. While you are doing this buy some Mink Oil.
Toss these boots in a tub of water so the water covers them completely. You want the water inside and out. Let them sit in the water overnight.
The next morning cover your feet liberaly with something like cold cream then pull on a thin pair of socks. Stuff your feet into the too tight pair off boots.
Now wear the boots all day. I'm talking do your usual. Walk in them as much as possible. (The more you walk the better off you are.) Do not take them off during the day. This causes the wet leather to stretch and conform to your feet. Only take them off in the evening when the water has sweated out and the leather has stretched.
When you take the boots off wash your feet and dry them well. If you have foot powder apply it. Then hit the boots with a nice heavy coating of the Mink Oil, or failing this a good shoe polish. (This keeps the leather from drying out completely and cracking.)
Your boots will now fit your feet like a good pair of moccasins. They will be more comfortable than slippers.
