Amateur Photography (Erotic story, not about cameras)

So I recently uploaded a story where I tried to emulate the setting and atmosphere of an earlier one I wrote. Both are fairly short stories involving an older woman who uses her naive teen neighbor's lust to her own ends. Both have a suburban late '50s/early '60s setting. Now my first story has a solid rating, closing in on H range at one point. While my second is struggling to stay above 3.0.

What happened? Is the second story just a dud and I don't see it? Or is it the different category? More overt femdom at the end? Bad luck and one-bombs?

I'm interested in feedback on Amateur Photography, but feel free to read The Neighbor's Skirt if you're dying to compare the two.

The fact is that any camera will be good for you to learn on. All of todays DSLR's are capable of incredible shots, ALL of them!. There is no 'best' camera. Choosing a camera for yourself is a very personal decision and can not be done by asking people on an internet site. All you will get is people shouting out the particular camera or brand that they own. All you are getting then is biased advice and that could lead to you choosing the wrong camera.

You might have received higher votes if you had posted those stories in the NonConsent/Reluctance category, especially so "The Neighbor's Skirt". I think most people expect to find a May/December romance type story in the Mature category.

Seems reasonable. Though I think categorizing The Neighbor's Skirt as noncon is stretching a bit. And that story has a good score and more views than my other stories because, at least IMO, it's in the Mature category. I think some of the readers for that one didn't really read it too closely as some of the comments seemed to praise it for the interaction between the older woman and younger boy but completely overlooked the fact that she screwed over his family.

The camera blurt cracked me up.

If the Mature cat readers are not looking for intrigue or a negative plot twist, it might have gone right over their heads if it was subtle. When you said "femdom" and I saw Mature, I thought, "ut-oh" from my very limited understanding of that cat. As you probably know, readers of certain cats get to expecting certain things, and when you go beyond them, you might find you've unintentionally missed your reader market.

The only explanation I can give for the lackluster scoring of the second story is that it should have been posted in noncon. Both stories were very well written, although I felt The Neighbor's Skirt was the better of the two. It was more tightly written. Also, Mrs. Wallace's deception did not become apparent until the end, thereby stretching the tension of the story much longer than in Amateur Photography.
My only criticism of Amateur Photography is that the daydream scenes were inserted somewhat awkardly. They would have worked a little better if done in italics, therey clearly indicating that we were inside the character's mind. The first time you used that device it was a lilttle bit jarring, as there was no indication that the conversation was internal, rather than external. This is a minor mechanical problem, only. The story itself was very well done. I would expect it to score much higher.
This just goes to show that there is really no explanation for voter scoring. I have an experience similiar to yours. My most recent story is a two parter. It was originally written as a single submission, but I broke it up just because it was too long and there was a natural break at the midpoint. Part one achieved an H. Part two was lingering around 3.3 until a few sweeps last week brought it up to 3.9. I still don't understand the discrepancy between the two scores. It is just something that we have to live with.
