I've been posting bits and pieces of my work for the past several months, and I'm not sure if I should take the votes/comments seriously?

When I read other writers work i try to either vote or leave a comment depending on how I felt about the piece. So I guess what I would like to know is if the people who have been here for a while (the majority of the forum posters I would assume) pay any attention to those things? Personnally, the reason I have the work I do on here is because I would like to hear some feedback and criticisms. Whether they be positive or negative, it helps me to understand how my readers are responding.

Any thoughts?........

Don't place too much value on a limited sample of the big wide world of porn poetry readers' score. Cherish the comments and remember that these are gifts to you to use as you like.

For indepth feedback and critique you may want to either start a poem specific thread or find one of the many critique/editing threads here in the forum. If you write it they will come (eventually). Remember, we can seem to be a testy bunch around here, but treat it all with a good deal of patience and tolerance, it's summer and the boards can be a little slow moving.

Enjoy yourself and show genuine interest in what others are doing and I'm sure the latent generosity of the pobo crue will surface and someone will provide you with feedback.

Personally I never look at the votes anymore, I used to way back when I started and it comes as rather a nice surprise to find a coloured letter beside a poem on my list. Having come to know the people on this board it's their thoughts on my poems that matters to me more now than somebody that has randomly come upon my offerings

I agree with UYS, but mostly with Champs. I think you can get a lot of good feedback, especially if you post your poem here. Don't worry if there is bad feedback, though. It doesn't matter.

I've learned that writing in competitions (groups or others like Pandora's threads) are the best way to get your game on. Much luck, and an added 'GO FOR IT!' Just write, and everyone will help you along the way. :)

thanks, i dont worry about negativity because friends tend to only relay what they absolutely love about your work, so it is nice to hear what can be improved upon for a change. so i think i'll start a few threads. i assume that i can't just start flooding the boards with my work so i'll either do it gradually or all in one thread.

that's another thing i dont really understand about this site, who decides on who gets those little letters? i understand the contest winning ones but that red H seems to taunt me.

The red H comes from the voting. If you have a certain average or better after receiving 10 or more votes, the work gets a red H.

This is accurate, but you shouldn`t despair if your votes disappear and what used to be 11 votes turns into 9. There are programs written to make certain that every vote on your poem comes from a unique computer and Lit profile. So if someone misclicks or tries to sabotage your poem`s ranking on the top lists, those votes are erased. That`s why most of my poems are not open to voting, but please comment if you feel so inclined. I do get around to sending acknowledgement eventually.
