I personaly like "Prince Poppycock" but that's just me.

The operatic voice isn't quite as good as it should be--it's being fluffed up by the packaging and dramatics. The only great voice on the show is the Black subway singer. The sweet young thing who they said was good in this road suffered from a voice riddled with nerves. She should have been cut until she can learn to sing to an audience.

Try comparing Prince Poppycock to
Cara Mia - Jay & The Americans - 1965 #4

I think Prince Poppycock needs a little more training. There's a voice, diction and clarity there, but I think it a trifle thin, and lacking that element that gives a voice "presence".

Perhaps it was his choice of music ?

No, you're right, his voice is a bit too thin for opera--and he doesn't hit the high notes from his diaphrum, which makes it warble a bit as well as be too thin (and nasal). A good entertainer, though.
