Isn't the building of a mosque at Ground Zero the equivalent of planting a flag of conquest in New York? Anybody have thoughts on this?

As 71SRplt points out, it's simply a replacement for the one that was already there-- the extremists bombed their own religion, if you want to think of it that way.Isn't the building of a mosque at Ground Zero the equivalent of planting a flag of conquest in New York? Anybody have thoughts on this?
Its insensitive at the least. From 911 till now Muslims have sat on their asses playing SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL while EVIL lives with them. Its past time to send them on their way back to Muslamia.

Building it again is an affirmation of the very important American value of religious tolerance-- exactly the opposite of what the Taliban accuses us of.
Take the wind out of their sails a little bit.

Actually, just the opposite. By allowing moderate muslims to exersise their rights to build what they please, without showing religous intolerace, that's a slap on the face to the fundamentalists, who would have to make up some weak story about how we "coulden't stop them", which would never hold.
It doesnt matter if I'm correct, appearances matter, and the Muslamics have their heads up their asses to risk inflaming us Neanderthals or they mean to do it. I personally think theyve brought their BS with them to America and get a woodie from clashes. So, lets rock.
it's not a mosque and it's not exactly AT ground zero. anyone care about facts of the matter?

Probably not, and that's sort of the point of America, isn't it?[...]
Do you bnelieve a comparative structure would ever be allowed in the center of Tehran or other Muslim capital?

This bears repeating, so I will:There already was a mosque in that building.
I don't have to believe, I know.Do you bnelieve a comparative structure would ever be allowed in the center of Tehran or other Muslim capital?
It's not exactly at Ground Zero, but it is no more than a few blocks from there. It's not a mosque; it's much more than that, a cultural center that includes a mosque. I posted a link to it earlier, from those who are planning to build it.
I don't know about their motives. They may be perfectly innocent, or it may be a sly way of saying "In your face, Infidels!"

This is smack in the middle of Teheran. Right next to the university library.
You're suggesting that our actions should be based on a lowest common denominator? I always thought the great thing about America was its willingness to abide by the principles that we agreed to over 200 years ago, no matter whether others accepted them.
