For Perg, the "Gay" gene.

I said "defect":

Main Entry: 1de·fect
Pronunciation: \ˈdē-ˌfekt, di-ˈ\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin defectus lack, from deficere to desert, fail, from de- + facere to do — more at do
Date: 15th century

1 a : an imperfection that impairs worth or utility : shortcoming <the grave defects in our foreign policy> b : an imperfection (as a vacancy or an unlike atom) in a crystal lattice
2 [Latin defectus] : a lack of something necessary for completeness, adequacy, or perfection : deficiency <a hearing defect>

Pretty clear.

Vette, in what way exactly does being homosexual "impair worth or utility?" or represent a "shortcoming?" In what way does it indicate "a lack of something necessary for completeness, adequacy, or perfection?"

You're treading a very fine line between an opinion and sheer blinkered bigotry with this post. You realize that, right?

so you are saying that GAYZ dont have a defect?

you have the comedic abilty of a bent rusty nail
Everyone here is more humorous than you are. You're just funny as in strange.

BTW you're girlfriend Meemie told me she was feeling neglected. You should go find her and give her a big SMOOCH. :D

Yes we all breathe, eat, and crap. Not all pirouette down Broadway in a tutu, carrying a parasol, dressed in panties and high heels, wanting to require all men to wear a hinged cod piece.:D

And not all gay people do that. What you're referring to is a stereotype.

Line walked on, stepped over and dirt kicked on it.

Here's what I said to CJH:

"I used that word because I knew it would bring you and others screaming out of the woodwork. It was mentioned that people might elect abortion if the gene was detected before birth, it occurred to me that people so disposed might consider that a defect. Kinda like the Chinese consider females less than perfect."

"Actually a simple case could be made, assuming a gene existed, that creates behavior preventing procreation, is indeed a defect."

Then your argument is that the only test for worth, utility, completeness, adequacy and/or perfection is whether a gay man decides to have a baby with a willing woman via IVF?

And therefore that straight folks who are barren are worthless, useless, incomplete, inadequate, and imperfect?

I have a married couple of gay friends who share a baby with a lesbian couple. Are they defective somehow? If so, how?

So that was you, vetteman, I saw at the Capitol Hill Block Party this weekend. I wondered. People were talking about you.

You've left him two choices, either backpedal on his blatant bigotry or put you on ignore.

Getting back to the original thought, if it's genetic, it can be tested for, if it can be tested for the parents have a choice and having choices such as that have the potential to have an effect, great or small, on society as a whole.

Ishmael

Ish, if a way is found to predict homosexuality in a fetus, then there will be parents who will choose to abort if their baby gets that prognosis. Studies show that 80-90% of identified Downs fetuses are aborted. Genetics allows for eugenics. If the tool is there, someone will use it.

I hope less than 80-90%, though.

Ahhhh the gay gene. The one sure way to turn a pro-lifer into a champion for a woman's right to choose.

Your hate has made you powerful.

I suspect you're right about those numbers kiddo.

So, a baby that is sure to be gay is somehow equivalent to a baby with Down Syndrome?
