Ghost readers

I have noticed several times on pending submissions that while the story is still in the queue and pending I will get 2 readers. Always 2. Usually the story takes a little longer after this for it to post.
I know that if I click the word "pending" I not only will send the story to the back of the queue but it will also sometimes create a ghost reader, meaning a number in the view box. The problem is I have never clicked the "pending" box.
Today I see my story which should be up sometime today has a 4 in the view box.
What is up with the four readers? Where are they coming from?

According to the FAQ this is when either your or the lit editors open the story to read it. So for example if its a long story and the editor reads it in parts, opens it four times, then it counts as four views.

Why does my story have views when it's still listed as pending?

Whenever you (the author) or the Literotica editors open a submission form, it registers as a view on your view counter. If you check your story or poem 5 times, you may notice that it shows it being viewed 5 times in your author profile. This does not mean it's being read by readers. The story will only be publicly available once it has been "Approved".

Hey Neast. Thanks for responding. I saw this as well. My problem with this is I write shorter stuff, always a page maybe two at most. This particular story that has four views is three lines past one page. Another issue is the evenness of the number. It doesn't happen on every story just three other times and always a 2, until this fourth time which is 4. How come that never showed a 1, 2, or 3 first. As far as I can tell it went from 0 straight to 4. The other times the zero went to two. I never saw a one.

I thought the numbers might represent editors as well. But why so rare, why only even numbers, and why at all as there is nothing in the stories in question that could get them rejected or need more than one sitting to read them?

Actually, it's more like, "Hey guys, get a load of this. Was he/she trying to be funny or what?" At which point the other editors open up the story for a good laugh or cry or whatever.

I kind of figured. Hopefully I am getting tears for my riveting dramas and laughs for the comedies and not the other way around

Still why is it always an even number, especially on the 4? Why wasn't there a 3 at one point unless it was real fast and I missed it.

There are two thoughts on that. One, is to give you a parking spot up close so you won't have a heart attack while walking to the office.
