At what point should a girl take hormones

I am 29 , m to f crossdresser and lately I have been contemplating taking hormones to augment my female persona. My question is how far can I really take this whilst maintaning my masculine/androginous physique and how exactly does a girl go about obtaining hormone therapy?

You don't for any reason! If you aren't planning on a full mtf transition and gotten a go ahead for a gender therapist you should not be taking hormones, especially if you are only cross dressing. Hormone therapy is not something to be taken lightly, it will permanently do damage to your body. I repeat, I'd strongly advise against hormones at all and stick to the clothes.

Perhaps I misspoke myself. I refer to myself as cd because that is the stage I am at now but I do have intention of transitioning completely. I merely wish it to be a long, slow process so as not to unduely shock those who are a part of my life. Hence the question: "At what point...? "

First piece of advice for anyone considering transitioning, find a therapist who specializes in transgenders issues. It'll take about 7 months at the least before they should be approving hormones. One way or the other, you have to see a therapist, no endocrinologist will prescribe hormones without a letter from a therapist and no SRS surgeon will perform surgery without a letter, sometimes they require two from two different therapists. No matter where you're planning on going or what you see yourself as, a therapist should be the first stop.

I am not by any means an impulsive person and this is something I am planning for approx, ten years down the road after my children are out of the house and well on to their own lives. So in about 9 yrs and three mo. will work well for my situation then, thank you.
