MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Like the character played by Clint Eastwood in the film Grand Torino, when it came to dealing with children and teens, neighbors allege 87-year old Roosevelt Ferguson always seemed to be the angriest man on Simpson Street.

“He kept telling them to stay out of his yard. But, they kept messing with him because he was an old man. So, I guess that's when he got tired of it went in the house and got the gun,” said neighbor Zakela Clark. “I was sitting on our porch and little kids was running in his yard and all I heard was pow, pow, pow and everyone started running.”

Daniel Cowart, 21, admitted conspiring with a friend to launching a ‘killing spree’ targeting black people.
They planned to rob a Tennessee gun shop and use the stolen ammunition to go on a murderous rampage across the US with Mr Obama, then a presidential candidate, as their final target.

The plot was foiled just two weeks before US election day in 2008.

Cowart could be jailed for up to 75 years under the terms of his plea deal.
Target: The men planned 'to drive their vehicles as fast as they could toward Obama, then a presidential candidate, shooting at him from the windows'
He admitted to eight charges, including threatening to kill and inflict bodily harm upon a presidential candidate, conspiracy, transporting a firearm across state lines with the aim of committing a crime and intentional damage to religious property.
Co-conspirator Paul Schlesselman, 19, pleaded guilty to similar charges in January and will be sentenced on April 15.
The two men met online and discussed attacking children at a predominantly black school.
According to court papers, the two men planned ‘to drive their vehicles as fast as they could toward Obama shooting at him from the windows.
‘Both individuals state they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt.
'Both individuals further stated that they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt,’ added investigator Brian Weaks.
They reportedly intended to shoot 88 black people.

The number 88 is held to be symbolic by white supremacists who say it represents ‘Heil Hitler’ because H is the eighth letter in the alphabet
