Donald Berwick is a one-man death panel. While Americans may not remember the agency he heads, he will quickly become known as Obama's rationing czar.

I searched under: Rationing Obamacare and this is the first article that came up….The John Birch Society? I just had to reference it…who remembers them at all? Who are they/were they?

Of course we are going to redistribute income; that is what national healthcare is all about…of course there will be rationing, not everyone who wants every treatment can be serviced…??
(I paraphrase)

At least read the piece, eh?

IIRC, they were the yahoos who believed Ike was an actual Soviet plant, and that flouridation of the drinking water was a Commie mind control scheme.

Oh dear. From the sounds of it lots of people would benefit from a tin foil hat and some time in a padded cell....

John Birch Society

John Birch Society ultraconservative, anti-Communist organization in the United States. It was founded in Dec., 1958, by manufacturer Robert Welch and named after John Birch, an American intelligence officer killed by Communists in China (Aug., 1945).

The most prominent of the extreme right-wing groups active in the United States, the society was founded to fight subversive Communism within the United States. Its other objectives have included the abolition of the graduated income tax, the repeal of social security legislation, the impeachment of various high government officials, the end to busing for the purpose of school integration, the end to U.S. membership in the United Nations, and the nullification of the treaty that turned over the Panama Canal to Panama.

There really were Commies under the bed!

heh

edited to add: Oh, yeah, just today America and former Communist Russia are exchanging SPYS! Go figure...

When I attended their meetings (yes, I was at one point a Bircher), I never heard one thing said about fluoridation, though frankly flouride is a toxin that supposedly isn't safe to swallow (so why put it in water to begin with).

As for Ike, believe it or not, I never bought the party line on that issue. So, yes, Birchers (which I used to be) are capable of dissenting from the official views of the Society on certain issues. They are not mindless drones. Even now, having left that organization, I have a certain respect for their commitment to principle (even if I ultimately decided that some of their principles were incompatible with my own). They are not racists. They are not Kluckers. They are not anti-Semites. They are simply people with firmly held views opposed to what they see as the corruption of the Republic by enemies within.

I still have much common ground with them on many economic, nationalistic, and constitutional issues. I just couldn't accept all of their conspiracy theories (Ike being a case in point) and I differed on social issues to a large extent.

I have a friend who works on a death panel.

His employer is Kaiser Permanente.

I'm not being sarcastic. Every day he denies coverage to sick people due to cost/benefit tables. He hates the work, but it pays better than anything else he could find with his degree.

Berwick's yet another example of an unelected bureaucrat answerable only to the POTUS and Congress with powers of life and death over the Average American. The Obeymecare legislation has well over one hundred rules and regs to be implemented or enforced 'at the discretion' of the HHS director.

We have cabinet appointees and 'czars' meddling in all aspects of our lives including immigration enforcement (or lack of same), oil cleanup in the gulf (multitudinous petty delays), selective law enforcement (the AG and his posse), idealistic (and unrealistic) energy policies and draconian environmental controls.

Who's gonna finally bell these cats before it's impossible to undo all the mischief they've caused?

None of them have the basic decency to snuff their careers when it would help America most. There should be bounties on every politician, and license to steal or fuck anything not on fire, until the bounty hunters get them.

Health Care Rationing Obama Believes In
By Nat Hentoff

As a reporter, I do not use euphemisms - such as calling murderous terrorists "militants" or "activists." And as an American, I can exercise my First Amendment right to say plainly that President Obama is a liar with regard to our new health-care law, often referred to as Obamacare.

When a number of critics of Obamacare, including myself, warned that it would bring the rationing of treatments, medications and research into new procedures, the president said to the American Medical Association (June 15, 2009) that this rationing charge was a "fear tactic."

The next month, he said flat out: "I don't believe that government can or should run health care" (firstthings.com, May 31, 2010).

But in May of this year, the president nominated Dr. Donald Berwick, a professor at Harvard Medical School, to head Health and Human Services' Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) - the most powerful health-care position. As Hal Scherz underlines (RealClearPolitics.com, May 26): "CMS covers over 100 million Americans, has an annual $800 billion budget that is larger than the Defense Department's and is the second-largest insurance company in the world."

Sad but true....there are real death panels who dole out life sentences and worse to countless americans but AmiKus, Jbj, TE, Zeb and the rest of their intellectually challenged cult would prefer to cower in their bunkers and obsess over a myth that some caribou barbie bimbo tweeted them.......Quite the profound thinkers, They!
