In the spirit of being cerebral, we wanted to ask our faithful viewers if they think our work is erotic, and if so, why? What does eroticism mean to you, and how is it different from porn? Thanks.![]()
Porn (amateur or professional) seems to be geared toward instant sexual gratification—the audience is expected to "use" the medium for masturbatory fantasy.
Erotica is, in my opinion, anything not meant for purely prurient purpose, but still too graphic or sexual to be considered glamour or "artistic" by the mainstream audience. (In the photography world, artistic photos are generally nudes that do not show explicit depictions of genitalia, though that has been known to happen. It many times depends on the social and professional status of the artist as the big names can get away with more risque photos and still be considered "art.")
Of course, each of these definitions are dependent on the mindset of the viewer. One person might see porn and another might see erotica. Judging from the vast majority of feedback on this site (and not just on this thread), I'd say the Literotica audience generally considers the photos here porn, with a smattering of erotica thrown in.
