So here comes the first hard match for the Nationalmannschaft in the 2010 Weltmeisterschaft. (yup we got all our own special and way too long words for this stuff)

Germany vs Argentina

What a match it’s gonna be. Maradona on the field is trouble, even when he’s not playing. At this stage only one can move on, no mercy for the looser, no chance even for 3rd.

Some names to watch for if you are interested.

For Argentina:
Messi…

For Germany:
Lahm
Schweinsteiger
Klose
Podolski

I swear I'm impartial.

Both games have an extreme soccer culture, and both produce exceptional players. Both also have a national style of play, and they are very different.

It’s gonna be one well of a game, but I have hope. Though Germany playing well seems a 50/50 thing at the moment. The current squad has played pathetically in 2 matches, and wonderfully in 2 others. Historically Germany always stops dragging their feet towards the end of the cup, but then again this is no typical Germany team.

Personally I’m all for them, they play typically German enough, really I'd be fine if they deviated a bit more, it would probably help more than hurt. Move away from those extreme basics, do a bit more when you got the ball.

So all you American, Ausi and UK chicks are more than welcome to come over and cheer for the good guys. It's hard work, looking cute and energized for the whole pre game party, match, caravan, post game party, and drunken songs, but if you cheer hard enough you too will share in the title of "Weltmeister", (World-Masters).

Game starts 7am pacific time. I'm expecting a full on clash, it's gonna be messy... for Messi.

Does Germany still have a government office that comes up with German names for things so that other languages' idioms do not get into common use in the official written language? Or did that go away with reunification?

This is France. They passed a law 1994 for this, the Loi relative à l’emploi de la langue française.

(Ha, I wasn't just on the beach in France!)

YC, count me in hon! Now, where did I put that red, black and gold bikini? ;)
What time is it UK time?

Who needs a bikini when you can just wear a flag.

In the UK, your a lot closer to south Africa. I think one hour ahead, so 3pm, 15:00.

Here its on at 7am, my god.

Hmmm I now want a german flag. I'm thinking pictures in/on it, and nothing else ;)

And suddenly this fucking game gains interesting aspects...
Count me in if one manages to find a flag for Molly... ;)
Maybe one of these?

hmmmm they're damn impossible to find. I have black red and gold make up though, perhaps a touch of body art would be fitting :D

How am I supposed to get my work done while imagining this?
You are cruel... :D

K so everyone said their prayers, paid dividends, sacrificed their first born. Good

Starts in the morning. Let's watch and see.

Except Argentina, you guys can't come.

Good game, was amazing. I loved it. Though I would have never expected Argentina to be beat so bad. And whats with that ref, my good, a yellow for accidental upper hand contact, yet simply restarts on every tackle. What in the world.

the first 30 minutes were incredible, Germany was making them look like North Korea. The the first 15 or so of the second half, also incredible, though Germany had position about 2% of that time, the defensive play was superb. Looked like those Argentinians were playing against a wall. Which is really good to see cause thsi teams defensive capabilities has me most worried.

If they keep playing like this German will be the cup winner without a problem.

However, historically, its no uncommon for Germany to get this far. Whenever I talk to any soccer fan about it they say something like, "Germany will probably play good, they always do, and then lose it all at the very end." Unfortunately that's the truth, but can we get it that extra mile this time. I think the team is certainly capable of going all the way, but will they.

Next match vs Spain.

Spain likely has the biggest soccer culture in the world. They are also damn good, however I've been watching them play, and I'm not that that impressed with the team. They are rated number 1 in the world, but after Argentina, I think they will be a breather.

So it's down to the semi finals now.

Remaining are Germany, Spain, Uruguay, and Holland.

One will lose it all, the rest get 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I'm still here and cheering Germany all the way!

Have been a little busy wth work though, but was grinning like a loon when some guy mentioned the epic win :D

When's the next match hon?

I'm sorry, I'm a confirmed castillophile and will be cheering on Spain.

If germany win though, I'll support them in the final because they are waaaaay better looking than the dutch team. Possibly because so few of them are actually German.

*ducks* :D

and I didn't even hear any sexy german accents :(

I think they are showing Fitzcarraldo on C4 this week :D

I'd rather have seen Spain and Germany in the final than holland though. I don't like the Dutch team. they foul horribly from what I've seen.

Paul the Octopus picked Spain over Germany. Sorry Germany fans.
