Charles Krauthammer on Obama’s new NASA strategy:
“This is a new of fatuousness. NASA was established to get America into space and to keep us there. This idea of ‘feel good about your past’ scientific achievements is the worst kind of group therapy, psycho-babble, imperial condescension and adolescent diplomacy. If I didn’t know that Obama had told him this, I’d demand the firing of Charles Bolden.”

In a far-reaching restatement of goals for the nation’s space agency, NASA administrator Charles Bolden says President Obama has ordered him to pursue three new objectives: to “re-inspire children” to study science and math, to “expand our international relationships,” and to “reach out to the Muslim world.” Of those three goals, Bolden said in a recent interview with al-Jazeera, the mission to reach out to Muslims is “perhaps foremost,” because it will help Islamic nations “feel good” about their scientific accomplishments.
In the same interview, Bolden also said the United States, which first sent men to the moon in 1969, is no longer capable of reaching beyond low earth orbit without help from other nations.

It's hard to believe. What a diaper load. Undoubtedly the most idiotic, incompetent administration in history.

The President is trying to destroy NASA.
...by changing the way they communicate to the public? Sounds like a pretty ineffective strategy.

I'm against it too. But it's merely slightly silly and a minor distraction for NASA.

As per usual, your fly is open and your hyperbole is hanging out.

Goes for the lot of ya. Including Krauty.

Different perspective. What if the goal is to provide the muslim world with technology outreach, for example, to outsource more technology jobs?

Are we going to hand them technology plans for building launch vehicles? We're letting the space shuttle stop, what will replace it? Will we collaborate with the muslim world to build another? Do you think it's a wise decision to let regimes like the one in Iran have launch vehicle technology which can easily be converted into ICBM's to deliver their soon-to-be-hatched nuclear bomb? What is this administration up to?

Rich.

Launch vehicle technology for earth orbital missions is hardly a secret. The basic principles have been in the public domain for years. Here are the Iranian missiles already thought to be operational. Upgrading to full ICBM capability is only a question of money -- not engineering challenges.

What if it's a plot to blow up the sun?

Define "them".

We're letting the space shuttle stop, what will replace it? Will we collaborate with the muslim world to build another?
I thought there was a replacement for the almost ancient shuttles underway? If not, they should collaborate with anyone who a) is willing b) is friendly and c) have something to contribute.

If you think that no muslim can be friendly and every muslim is a Raghead Terrorist Sand-nigger Of Ultimate Evil, I see where we might have a failure to communicate here.

Tehehe, good one... wait... you're acrtually serious? Ok then: No, I don't believe that would be a good idea.
What is this administration up to?
Not that. If you think that, the blister on my left foot has more common sense than you.

What do his instructions have to do with space travel?
Nothing. Read my post. I said it was silly. Scientists should do science, and leave rhetorics to politicians.
He's going to turn NASA into a technology home center for the enemy, because that's who will ultimately benefit.
Ok, you two. Forget what I said about your hyperbole hanging out. It's your delusional paranoia that is dangling in the free breeze.

The fuel mix is still a "leading technology" and not many countries have mastered intercontinental missile technology. That's all right though, Clinton already gave the Chinese our guidence system technology, you know, to be fair (and get lots of campaign donations) so dems already have a long history of giving away our technologies.
