B-29 Model airplane with 4 chainsaw engines.

That was awesome! I'm so freaking jealous!

Either plane would make a builder proud, but both together... damn!

The X1 was launched from the (suitably modified) bomb bay.

A damn good bit of RC flying.
Yes, I know that, but the X1 model is still cool, whether the mounting is historicaly accurate or not. :p

One other note to consider: I was amazed at how much the model sounds like a full sized four-engine bomber -- i'm guessing that here was no editing of the sound track here, given the otherwise amateurish video editing.

But it wasn't flown like a full sized four-engined bomber. The aerobatics shown would have been impossible for the real thing.

Too true. Boeing's bombers have always been capable of more aerobatic performance than the Airforce permits, but the outside loop would have done in the best of them -- if they could have gotten over vertical in the first place.

Of course, all of the aerobatics were done after the crew bailed out (ejected!) so nobody can be court-martialed for exceeding flight restrictions. :p

Hehe - exactly. The cheesy announcer during the falling-leaf/pilot ejection sequence was pretty funny. The RC pilot must make the rounds with this plane. The kid who picks up the X-1 is pretty nonchalant about the whole thing. It's still a pretty good spectacle, though!
